November 28, 2019 Night

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 32 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a north-northwest breeze at 10 mph. 🍃. Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 9 am. 🌡️

I has a nice Thanksgiving dinner with the family 👪 with all the fixings. After all these years, I think mom made the best Thanksgiving dinner yet. Her cranberry sauce and creamed onions were really amazing. 🍒 She has been doing a lot of research on the internet and been test cooking new recipes all autumn long. 🍗 Her success has paid off. I’m hoping she can do it for many more years as when I’m on my own, I can’t imagine ever cooking such a big meal myself.

I went for my evening walk 🚶 after dinner in Delmar. Remarkably quiet night for sure, I thought I see others out walking after the big meal but it was pretty raw outside especially at first. I wanted to ride the exercise bike 🚲 but it looked like my neighbor was home and the lights were dimmed and I didn’t want to wake him with the rumble if he’s working the morning shift.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 29 degrees at 2am. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 26th. Maximum wind chill around 20 at 2am; Northwest wind around 10 mph. In 2018, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 28 degrees. The record low of 3 occurred back in 1875.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent Moon 🌒 with 13% illuminated. The moon will rise at 9:59 am. The First Quarter Moon is on Tuesday night with mostly cloudy skies. The Cold Moon 🌝 is on Wednesday, December 11th. The sun will rise at 7:02 am with the first light at 6:31 am, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 38 minutes of darkness, an increase of one minute and 34 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 37 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 11th. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 56 degrees. The record high of 66 was set in 2005. 3.3 inches of snow fell back in 1945.❄

I really like the idea πŸ’‘ of doing something if it’s so nice tomorrow. I’m seriously considering the Adirondacks again, get out there one more time before the big snow. ❄ If I don’t camp the next two days snow abs cold might mean it’s a a while. It seems like it won’t start until Sunday evening based on the latest models. Not sure though. Definitely sounds too nice to stay home – even if I just wakj to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. 🐸

I’m ready to launch the new blog theme 👍once I’m home for a few days to monitor performance and ensure everything is working properly. On the outside the changes in style are minor but it’s a big update internally based on a stripped down fast WordPress theme, one that’s still actively updated and patched unlike the current version I’m running. I’ll be happy when that project is done although I’ve taught myself a lot about CSS 3 and the many functions of modern web browsers. 💻

In four weeks on December 26 the sun will be setting at 4:27 pm,🌄 which is 3 minutes and 22 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had cold, mostly sunny, snow showers and temperatures between 22 and 8 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 33 and 18 degrees. The record high of 59 degrees was set back in 1895.

Looking ahead, Repeal of Prohibition Day 🍺 is in 1 weeks, Boxing Day 🥊 is in 4 weeks, 4:30 PM Sunset 🌆 is a month away and National Cheese Lovers Day 🧀 is in 8 weeks.
