May 25, 2020 Night
Good evening! Partly clear and 66 degrees at the Perkins Clearing. There is a south breeze at 6 mph. π. The dew point is 58 degrees. It was a beautiful sunset π to end the Memorial Day Weekend. Thank you all that served and gave their lives for the country.
I totally got killed by the black flies π today when I was laying back on the hammock, emailing and calling clients. It was a pleasant place to work but the black flies and the sun burnt wasn’t so much fun. Tomorrow if the heat is bareable I’ll spend more time in the screen tent πͺ.
The sun β was good for part of the day and the breeze was nice so solar power worked fine for the laptop and all other things that needed a charge. I didn’t really mind working this Memorial Day as it was a beautiful weekend and maybe while a working weekend a good one. I just wish I had used more sunscreen and DEET or picardin on my legs.
While the screen tent πͺ is good for the black flies, at times it sure is hot during the day. While occasionally a bug will sneak in and bite for the most part the black flies are very well controlled by the tent. They are starting to die down now for the night π and then maybe I’ll have a small fire if the breeze dies down and lay back in the hammock. π₯ I am worried about how dry it is up here, so I want to keep any fire small but it would be nice to burn up the paper plates and camp trash.
Tonight will have patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy π€, with a low of 58 degrees at 4am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 19th. Maximum dew point of 58 at 9pm. South wind 3 to 6 mph. In 2019, we had rain in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It became somewhat humid as the night progressed. It got down to 57 degrees. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1972.
Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent π Moon with 11% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the west-northwest (282Β°) at an altitude of 24Β° from the horizon, some 237,868 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. π A pretty little sliver moon tonight. At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by November 22nd. Buckle up for safety! πΊ The moon will set in the borthwest (305Β°) at 11:29 pm. The Strawberry π Moon is on Friday, June 5. The darkest hour is at 12:56 am, followed by dawn at 4:50 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:24 am in the east-northeast (60Β°) and last for 3 minutes and 25 seconds. Sunrise is 44 seconds earlier than yesterday. π The golden hour ends at 6:07 am with sun in the east-northeast (67Β°). Tonight will have 8 hours and 56 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 39 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will have patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, mostly sunny π, with a high of 83 degrees at 3pm. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around July 13th. Maximum dew point of 61 at 5pm. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 86 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 2010. There was a dusting of snow in 1953.β
After the sunburn and black fly bites yesterday π I’m undecided if I will drive home after work tomorrow or wait until Wednesday evening and the heat breaks. I think I would prefer Wednesday but I’m running low on food and clothes to wear. And it might be ungodly hot working in the tent on Tuesday. π₯
In four weeks it will be the second day of summer on June 22 the sun will be setting in the borthwest or northwest for that matter (304Β°) at 8:42 pm,π which is 16 minutes and 29 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 80 and 55 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 80 and 59 degrees. The record high of 95 degrees was set back in 1954.
Looking ahead, Average High is 80 π is in 4 weeks.
