March 8, 2018 Morning
Good morning! Happy Thursday. Not a lot of Thursday holidays to look forward to before Thanksgiving.🐔 Cloudyβ with a beautiful coat of snow on the groundβ but warm enough that the roads are just wet around 34 degrees in Delmar, NY. β There is a northwest breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. If I didn’t have to work, today would be a great day for skiing. The skies will clear Saturday around 6 pm.
🌹🌻🌼Only 12 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼
I am definitely looking forward to spring time. The snow can’t last forever.
Today will have a chance of snow, mainly before noon. Cloudy β, with a high of 37 degrees at 12pm. Three degrees below normal. West wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 58 degrees. The record high of 68 was set in 2012. 6.5 inches of snow fell back in 2013.β
The sun will set at 5:54 pm with dusk around 6:22 pm, which is one minute and 12 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for clouds β and 35 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 36 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.
The storm was a bit of a disappointment, but it left everything with a beautiful blanket of snow. βI am kind of hoping that this is the final snow storm but I’m well aware that we can have another month or more of snow storms. But now the average highs are in the mid 40s and 50s by the end of the month, so any snow we get will not last a long time. βWe get the biggest snow storms of the year in mid March but they don’t last. I heard their is a possibility for another storm next week.
Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy β , with a low of 23 degrees at 5am. One degrees below normal. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2017, we had partly cloudy skies. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of -14 occurred back in 1943.
In 1965, Thirty-five hundred United States Marines are the first American land combat forces committed during the Vietnam War.β It would be another decade before the war started to wind down. Still one of the most divisive conflicts in modern memory, our country will be a different place once the last of the Vietnam veterans have come and gone.
There are 7 months until Columbus Day 🛥οΈ when the sun will be setting at 6:24 pm with dusk at 6:52 pm (Daylight Savings Time). I hope you take full advantage of the summer as it may not last as long you think. When you get old the years go by so quickly. I find it hard to believe 2020 is just around the corner.
