March 18, 2017 Night
Good evening! Cloudy and 35 degrees in Bethlehem, NY. There is a east breeze at 5 mph. The skies will clear tomorrow around 9 am.
Didn’t do much today besides go for a walk and down to the library. Sometimes a quiet Saturday is nice for a change. Do look forward to camping come another month or so when it finally warms up.
Tonight will have a chance of light snow, mainly before 10pm. So far no snow so I doubt it. Too warm to stick. Cloudy, with a low of 27 degrees at 2am. Typical for tonight. For a change, not so cold. Northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 23 degrees under clear skies. The record low of -10 occurred back in 1967. One of the last few below zero records until late autumn.
Waning Gibbous Moon tonight with 59% illuminated. The moon will rise around 11:06 pm. The Last Quarter Moon is on Monday night with mostly cloudy skies expected. The Full βPinkβ Moon is on Tuesday, April 11th. The sun will rise at 6:59 am with the first light at 6:31 am, which is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. Tonight will have 11 hours and 52 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 55 seconds over last night. Days are rapidly getting longer.
Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high of 39 degrees at 3pm. Seven degrees below normal. North wind 5 to 10 mph. That’s a bit disappointing but I’ll take it. A year ago, we had sunny skies and a high of 42 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 2012. 9.6 inches of snow fell back in 1971. While it’s been cold out and last week we got that big storm, the truth is by this time of year winter doesn’t have the punch of even a few weeks ago.
In four weeks on April 15 the sun will be setting at 7:38 pm, which is 32 minutes and one second later then tonight. In 2016 on that day, we had sunny skies and temperatures between 64 and 32 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 58 and 37 degrees. The record high of 86 degrees was set back in 2003.
Looking ahead, April Fools Day is in 2 weeks, Tax Day is in 1 month, Earth Day is in 5 weeks and Father’s Day is in 3 months.
