July 2, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Partly sunny and 67 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. The dew point is 64 degrees. Going to be a hot day, although it’s not too bad in my apartment right now, but maybe it’s because I’m getting used to living without air conditioning, sitting next to the fan. I will probably regret not getting down to the library earlier to do the various work things I planned to do today, but it’s fine I’ll survive with the fan in my truck, and if it gets to hot, I’ll come home and just make do with my phone and my work laptop with the slow and limited celluar internet.

Today will have isolated showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 89 degrees at 3pm. Seven degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 64 at 8am. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It became sticky as the day progressed. The high last year was 84 degrees. The record high of 98 was set in 1966.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:00 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.4Β° from the due south horizon (-0.4Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 7:55 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (296Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (303Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:37 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 26 seconds with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 11 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full 🌝 Moon in the south-southeast (151Β°) at an altitude of 21Β° from the horizon, 231,428 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:57 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 81 degrees. The dew point will be 66 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 44 seconds over yesterday.

I am still thinking about going to the Henry Hudson Park this afternoon for some fishing, reading, and maybe work down there later. 🎣 On a hot day like today, it’s always nice to spend some time down by the river. I should also think about doing some cleaning and packing to get ready for leaving town on Sunday. Tomorrow I also want to do some fishing — I have Friday off but it all depends how stormy it is come the afternoon.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 68 degrees at 4am. Seven degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 66 at 8pm. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It was humid. It got down to 63 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1978.

On this day in 1962, The first Wal-Mart store opens for business in Rogers, Arkansas. πŸͺ Two years later, President Johnson would sign the Civil Rights Act of 1964 into law on the same day. ✊ Neither thing is very related.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, mostly sunny and warm, with a high near 87. Maximum dew point of 64 at 8am. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees.
