July 1, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy July 🏊🏿! Back to work on this three day work week as I have Friday off. Going to be a beautiful day. Too bad I have to work. Two weeks to Cow Appreciation Day πŸ‚. Sunny and 64 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 There is a northwest breeze at 6 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 56 degrees.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 80 degrees at 3pm. One degree below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 25th. Maximum dew point of 58 at 11am. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph. Don’t get weather much better than this. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was very sticky. The high last year was 97 degrees. The record high of 99 was set in 1913.

The sun will set at 8:37 pm with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 9 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 74 degrees. The dew point will be 59 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 15 minutes of daytime, an increase of 41 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 60 degrees at 5am. Typical for tonight. Maximum dew point of 59 at 7pm. West wind 5 to 7 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies. It was very sticky. It got down to 77 degrees. The record low of 40 occurred back in 1978.

Tomorrow I got to pick up my dry cleaning, which means I’ll either have to get cash or use my card. πŸ’³ I usually use cash but I have like $37 worth of dry cleaning to pick up but I should be good for a while as I don’t wear my suit much off session. πŸ‘”

On this day in 1963, ZIP codes are introduced for United States mail. If you get a zip code wrong, the best thing that can happen is you have a very scornful postal clerk, and the worst thing that can happen is your mail isn’t delivered. βœ‰ Always double check zip codes. Shit happens, it’s all about manure management. πŸ’© Also in 1968, the UAW becomes a seperate entity from AFL-CIO over policy disputes. The UAW would rejoin the AFL-CIO 13 years later in 1981. πŸ‘·

Looks like a nice weekend but watch for thunderstorms. ⚑Saturday, scattered showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 68 at 6am. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Maximum dew point of 61 at 6pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees.

I’m continuing to think about heading up to Moose River Plains after work on Wednesday, β›Ί for the long weekend. I’m a bit hesitant to go up there as I don’t want to break anything on my truck (again) on those rough roads but I’ll drive carefully. I also get tired of spending so much time in my truck running place to place but if I plan appropriately I can do things near camp and with the solar once I’m set up and there is a reasonable amount of sun I should be good for the weekend. But I could do something else too. πŸ’ I’ll probably bring the kayak for going out on Helldiver Pond one night but I’m not set on that yet.

One possibility is driving over to Stillwater Reservoir during the weekend and hiking the Fire Tower πŸ—Ό. I’ve never been to that tower and I think I’ll need to visit Inlet during the weekend to buy ice and maybe ice cream but not at Northern Lights 🍦as that place did nothing for me but I want to try the place in Eagle Bay.

I still have future weekends to get up to the Potholers. There is one weekend between summer vacation and Independence Weekend so if nice I could always do that. 🏊 Plus there is the months of August and possibly September for getting up there.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Cow Appreciation Day πŸ‚ when the sun will be setting at 8:31 pm with dusk at 9:04 pm. On that day in 2018, we had hot, humid, partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 93 and 72 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 83 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1997.
