February 22, 2016 Morning
Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Currently 29 degrees and sunny with a 9 mph north wind. The wind chill value is currently 21.
Today will continue to be sunny, with a high near 38. Northwest wind around 9 mph. Tonight the sun will set at 5:36 pm with darkness around 6:04 pm, which is 1 minutes and 16 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 10 hours and 55 minutes of daylight, an increase of 2 minutes and 48 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 20. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
There are 3 months, 8 days until Memorial Day when the sun will be setting at 8:25 pm (Daylight Savings Time). Aren’t we all looking forward to the unofficial start to summer minus maybe black fly season. I wonder if the mild winter will effect the black flies this year? I have no idea.
Happy Birthday to the late Ted Kennedy, the liberal icon of the US Senate. He shares a birthday with another liberal, David Axlerod, the famous Obama political strategist who turns 61 years old today. If it’s also your birthday, have a great one.
Today in 1871, Frank Woolworth opens his first store in Utica. The last Woolworth’s store would close in the early 1990s. I vaguely remember going there as a child.
Another morning that I decided to get an early start and take the express bus to work via the Park and Ride. I enjoy taking that 9/10th mile walk to kick off day, especially on a bright and sunny morning like today. When I get in the office the sunlight will be pouring in on my desk and I will get a jump on the business of the day.
