Ten weeks is both a short time period and a incredibly long one to when you think about it. It’s the time period between the first day of summer and Labor Day Weekend. Winter is a slog, but you get through it. But by that second week of March, winter often is receding, and some days are nice. Not having sunset until 7 PM means that the evenings are much longer, especially when you figure in that dusk doesn’t happen for another 28 minutes thereafter.

Fondue was popularized as a Swiss national dish by the Swiss Cheese Union (Schweizerische Käseunion) in the 1930s as a way of increasing cheese consumption. The Swiss Cheese Union also created pseudo-regional recipes as part of the "spiritual defence of Switzerland".[17][18] After World War II rationing ended, the Swiss Cheese Union continued its marketing campaign, sending fondue sets to military regiments and event organizers across Switzerland. In the meantime, fondue continued to be promoted aggressively in Switzerland, with slogans like "La fondue crée la bonne humeur" 'fondue creates a good mood' and (1981, in Swiss German) "Fondue isch guet und git e gueti Luune" 'fondue is good and creates a good mood' – abbreviated as "figugegl".
Fondue was promoted to Americans at the Swiss Pavilion's Alpine restaurant at the 1964 New York World's Fair.
Fondue was popular in the United States in the 1960s and 1970s, along with other foods made in chafing dishes.[21]

Three months to April
I was looking at the calendar and realized it’s only three months until April 2021. Looking forward to the warmer weather, trout season and hopefully a little less cold.

Today is the shortest day of the year. But in some parts of the state -- the most northernly latitudes in the state -- the day is particularly short. Massena gets only 8 hours, 46 minutes and 25 second of daylight between sunrise and sunset. The opposite is true the farthest south you get. The most southerly municipality in New York State is Staten Island, with 9 hours, 16 minutes and 17 seconds between sunrise and sunset. On the first day of winter, Massena has a full half hour less of daylight then Staten Island. Who would have ever thought there would be such a great difference between the most southern and most northern parts of New York State? Don't feel too bad for Massena, because people on the first day of summer at Robert Moses State Park north of the 45 parallel enjoy the most daylight of any part of our state.
