Compared to recent years, there i s quite a bit of snow on the ground, both in the valley and certainly in the higher elevations. Over two feet of snow in many parts of the Adirondacks and Green Mountains.

I think we can laugh at the south a lot, but if we had four days in Albany with the high of negative 5 and a low of around negative 25 each night, it would very taxing on heating systems and possibly power plants, especially in New England.
At minimum there would be a lot of burst pipes and house fires and spiking power prices, but also would likely be a lot of stress on natural gas supplies, with industrial consumers and power plants switching back to heavy oil or no 2, whenever it’s possible.
And North Dakota would laugh at us.

Yes, even the cheapest space heater works as well as the most expensive one. And most have exactly the same heat output -- 1.5kWh or 5,200 BTU -- as that's what the electric code says. And because fossil electric plants aren't exactly efficient are converting fossils into electricity, they are much more expensive then burning fossils right in your home.
