As I noted last night, this is a powerful song that brought Senator Bobby Kennedy to tears when he heard Phil Ochs preform it in the mid-1960s. Even more then a half century later, it's an incredibly powerful song about the death of John F. Kennedy and other great leaders.
And now some Tom Paxton as another day comes to an conclusion ....
When you drop the needle on the first track of Peter, Paul And Mary's first widely released-album, this song by Peter Yarrow starts playing. Seems appropriate these days.
I hadn't heard this song written by Peter Yarrow until last weekend. It really is a pretty innovative song, released on the Late Again album which came out in August 1968, the same week that Peter, Paul and Mary were arrested during the Chicago demonstrations at the Democratic National Convention.
