Technically it’s a day too early to be listening to that song about Billy Jo McAllister but on the other side it feels such an appropriate song. Seems like so many so many conversations. I’m just looking forward to being able to wear daisies in my hair. ๐ผ
Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Sunny and 64 degrees at the for the morning walk in Delmar. ๐ There is a north-northwest breeze at 5 mph. ๐. The dew point is 57 degrees. ๐ฎ The air tastes like grain and hay.
Last night wasn’t that warm ๐ฐ though after getting my steps ๐ฃ in and doing some leg and arm crunches I was feeling sweaty. ๐ช
I think I’m going to do eggs ๐ฅ, spinach and beans for breakfast ๐ณ this morning. I have that lunch today at work but first I want to make sure I have a stomach full of fiber so I limit how much of that inevitably high calorie restaurant food. Also trying to get in as many steps ๐ฃ as possible in the morning in case this evening is very wet. I’m somewhat disappointed that I won’t be getting out of town this weekend.
Today will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Sunny ๐, with a high of 88 degrees at 1pm. 12 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 60 at 9am. North wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 78 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1895.
Going to be another ol hot summer day, ๐ this day with a bit more humidity but still hardly oppressive. Right it’s super nice. Too bad it’s going to turn to rain and much cooler come this evening ๐ into the weekend. I guess enjoy it while you still can thought it will be back for the work week from hell but then they’ll be gone for the summer. ๐ฟ My thoughts are totally on the Potholers which I’ll be at in two weeks, God willing for the Juneteenth Weekend, which is my favorite holiday of the year.
I was hoping to walk down to the Park and Ride ๐but breakfast took longer than expected ๐ก with all the chopping and then it seemed like the eggs weren’t cooked enough ๐ณ so I had to put them back in broiler a bit longer. I did double check โ to make sure the oven is off before heading out. Ultimately I walked halfway to the Park and Ride and I’m thinking I’ll be closing in on 4 miles before I start work at nine. Worse comes to worse I’ll wear a rain coat for the evening walk ๐ถ.
Tonight will have showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. ๐ง๏ธ North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
It looks like National Gird is busy upgrading the lines by the High School ๐ธ to add new power poles and electricity capacity to support more electric buses in the coming years. They cut the trees before Indiana bat ๐ฆ season and it looks like they have it marked out for the poles to be installed in the coming days. Electric buses are the future as are electric cars. It’s happening, finally now.
Then for Saturday, scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 70. ๐ฅ ๐ โ North wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
I decided on Saturday I am going to browse used bicycles ๐ฒ to see what is available at a few local stores. I would kind of prefer a more road bike for commuting and longer distance travel then my hybrid bicycle. But I’m thinking I will continue my effort to restore my old bicycle maybe reaching out to Albany Bicycle Rescue for some help on the wheel. If I’m planning on doing a lot of bicycle commuting it might be best to have a back up after things break down as the inevitably will. ๐
Then heading over to Colonie to visit John Wolcott and if the weather is decent take him out to the Crossings. ๐ Then in the evening I plan to head over to the Albany Pine Bush ๐ฆ and stop at Market 32 in Guilderland for groceries. ๐ Sunday go out and see the folks. ๐ช And then the big final week ahead.
One week from now session should be wrapping up ๐ง๐ปโ๐ผ and I should be able to put away my poorly fitting dress clothes for a while as I figure out what my future looks like. I’m ready for some nice summer weekends in the Potholers. Sunset on that day is 8:33 pm with dusk at 9:06. I know it well, I’ve been staying up too late. ๐ 77 degrees is the normal high, it got up to 93 degrees back in 2011. Long range says 75 and sunny for next Friday but it’s certain to change.
While ultimately what I learned is what I completely expected and was disappointed about that, the truth is a got definative answers, it didn’t cost me anything and I now know what options lay ahead.
It’s not pleasant to get hear the answer you don’t want to hear from you but when information is free and beneficial it’s worthwhile to know where things actually stand. Just a little gas and time wasted.
I will get a second opinion and look at my alternatives going forward. But I knew it would happen this way. Maybe I can make some good come out of these situation by improving my skills and knowledge.
Do I stay or do I go is the question on my mind, noting the likely ton of black flies if I head out of town. But the flip side is the long weekend forecast is rapidly improving and it would be fun to get out of town. But where to go? Speculator? Green Mountains?
Good morning! Happy Thursday. Partly cloudy and 44 degrees in Delmar for the morning walk. โ There is a west-northwest breeze at 6 mph. ๐. The skies will clear around 11 am.
Oatmeal with blackberries and maybe blueberries for breakfast ๐ฅฃ this morning. Cold coffee โ maybe black though I probably should get some dairy into my diet this morning with the coffee. ๐ฎ

Monday, Monday. Hitting the go button is always difficult after a busy weekend. And so it comes around again as it always does. The one upside is a we are a week closer to summer and session wrapping up, and it’s not a election year.
Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Only two more session weeks after today. Mostly sunny with gray to the west from the wildfire smoke and 51 degrees in Delmar for the morning walk. โ Calm wind. The dew point is 49 degrees.
That weekend came and went quite quickly ๐ฒ but I rammed quite a bit in it. Yesterday I hiked out to Five Rivers in the morning, hiked Bennett Hill in the evening and visited my parents mid afternoon. Didn’t do any work yesterday, though I did a much needed mopping of the kitchen floor ๐งน and cleaned the bathtub and toilet. ๐ The kitchen floor was muddy from the last time I was out camping, it really needed a good scrub.
I decided to get cream of wheat, aka enriched farina for breakfast ๐ฅฃ this morning. It’s not a whole grain so it lacks a lot of fiber but I’ll pare with blackberries for a good breakfast followed by some celery this morning and make sure lunch has a lot of kale included. ๐ Tomorrow reheat quiche / eggs, adding extra spinach. Fiber, its what fills you up. Packed brown rice – red lentils, kale, yellow and red peppers, finger hot peppers, spinach and tomatoes for lunch, then packed a dinner of

Seasonably warm for this part of May ๐ท but we’ve had relatively few really warm days this month so far this year. Despite the building El Niño strength it seems like some models are suggesting this could be a relatively mild summer. ๐ Started out that way for sure.
