July 26, 2016 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Partly cloudy and 83 degrees in Trumansburg. There is a northwest breeze at 11 mph. The dew point is 61 degrees.

A nice afternoon but a bit humid…

Right now I’m at the Taughannock State Park Beach at Cayuga Lake but I have yet to put on a bathing suit and hop into the sure to be frigid water of the largest Finger Lake. The beach is open until 7 pm. I was at the Roger Treman State Park earlier and explored the Enfield Glen but the swimming was closed today due to the turbidity caused by yesterday’s rain.

It’s just so nice sitting down by the lake.

It’s pretty remarkable how Taughannock Falls is but a trickle from the dry conditions of late. I’ll post pictures later but for now, I can say that the Taughannock Creek bed is almost completely dry. I’ve never seen it so dry.  A major slide has detoured part of the Gorge. It must have happened since the last time I was here in late April.
