Back when the village was a bit smaller and the current alignment NY 30 down to Long Lake didn't really exist in the current form.
This map shows the northern portion of Tupper Lake near the village. There are a handful of campsites on state land along the west shore of the lake, along with some along the south shore of the lake (not shown).
Looking across the lake from the village park at the great Adirondack woods that is largely flat with some peaks west of here.
Taken on Thursday June 25, 2020 at Tupper Lake.On the way back home, I stopped by Hammond Pond, which is what Hammond Pond Wild Forest is named after. I wasn't particularly impressed, the horseflies were bad, and I was tired so I only stopped briefly. Quick hike back on an old woods road from the parking area.
