April 25, 2017 9 AM Update
Rain and forty eight degrees this morning in the town that our leaders print on their websie, One of America’s Most Desirable Towns. I have no idea who picked that rating and I’m sure the slogan was picked up back in the 1960s and has been kept as the sop to the Republican Business Women or something like that came before them. Or maybe that ninety year old man who drives a Cadillac, license plate “Commerce”, who at one time owned a five and ten store before Walmart and is proud of his business accomplishment. Every town has one of those people. Sixty degrees later with the rain picking up.
The sun will set at 7:49 pm with dusk around 8:19 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 13 hours and 52 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 36 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will rain some more, mainly before 5am. Low of 48 degrees at 12am. Seven degrees above normal. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 38 degrees with periods of rain. The record low of 24 occurred back in 1972.
Looking ahead, there are 3 weeks until Average High is 70 when the sun will be setting at 8:12 pm with dusk at 8:45 pm. On that day in 2016, we had rain and temperatures between 59 and 39 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 70 degrees. We hit a record high of 89 back in 1991.
So it’s a pretty rainy day. But at least it’s a work day, so I don’t care that much. I’ll have to take the tunnel to the Capitol. I much prefer to walk outside. It is nice how spring like it has gotten outside with most of the trees in the city getting green.
This evening assuming I get our of work at a reasonable hour, it’s off to the laundromat. I need to get money for the laundromat. I should get a roll of quarters or maybe just ones and exchange them at the machine. I also want to swing by Lowes to get the filter for the heater and maybe give Big Red a bath at the car wash.
Other then that, enjoy the rain. And it looks like the weekend might turn out to be quite nice …
