April 1, 2019 Morning
Good morning! Happy April Fools Day π€‘! I think the fool out there, is the person who expects it to be quite warm out this morning. It’s cold. Two weeks to Tax Day π°. More damage to the budget, although at least tomorrow is pay day. Sunny and thirty degrees here in beautiful Downtown Albany or something like that. β Breezy, οΈ16 mph breeze from the northwest π¬ with gusts up to 31 mph π¨π¨π¨. The current wind chill is 16. Things will start to thaw out at around 9 am. π‘οΈ
Definitely a cold but pretty morning. I drove home this morning, then caught the early Voorheesville bus back into the city. π I wasn’t sure how late I was going to work this morning, after working the previous 24 hours. I did catch some shut eye π΄ under my desk, sleeping next to my phone π± but I’m still pretty tired. Now I’m taking the local bus outbound back home.
I was actually surprised how much traffic π₯ there was at 6:30 in the morning. But most was inbound. Heading out of the city wasn’t bad and I had time for a little bit of cereal before catching the bus downtown. πI probably could have just fed the meter for that last hour but honestly I didn’t know how much longer I would have been at work and I figured I should drive home when I was still somewhat awake after my last nap and caffeine shot. Definitely a busy night last night at work with a lot of twists and turns.
Turned out to be a very beautiful day. π Maybe a bit too much sun for the first day of trout season π‘but maybe I’ll head out later after I get some sleep, do some hiking then fishing. It depends on how I feel after sleeping in my own bed. I don’t know, experience shows recovery from sleep deprivation takes time and I’m not sure how I’ll feel this afternoon.
Today will be partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny π, with a high of 45 degrees at 3pm. Seven degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical day around March 18th. Breezy, with a northwest wind 16 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 47 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 1986. 5.0 inches of snow fell back in 1924.β
The sun will set at 7:21 pm with dusk around 7:49 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. π At sunset, look for clear skies π and temperatures around 40 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 13 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 45 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will be mostly clear π, with a low of 21 degrees at 6am. 11 degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical night around March 3rd. West wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2018, we had mostly clear in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 28 degrees. The record low of 17 occurred back in 1964. Going to be a cold night to kick off April.
I’m glad April is finally here. π·In the city by the end of the month we will start seeing some green and a moderating of the temperatures. While my heat is on now, I think by tomorrow it should be off for the forsseeable future. Two weeks and two days from now I’ll probably be out camping βΊ. I’ll be spending more of my weekends in the wilderness which will be nice.
Not quite as nice with April underway is that there are 2 weeks until Tax Day π° when the sun will be setting at 7:37 pm with dusk at 8:06 pm. On that day in 2018, we had freezing rain showers, cold, mostly cloudy and temperatures between 36 and 28 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 58 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2003.
In conclusion, I got some sleep last night π but I still feel very sleep deprived, achy and sore. But that comes with the territory. I’m still working hard for a better tomorrow for myself and some personal discomfort maybe what is necessary to looking towards the future. I’ll rest up when I get home, the aches will go away.
