I am pretty sure discovering /var/tmp is the best thing since discovering sliced bread, and it has a lot less calories involved. /var/tmp doesn't disappear upon reboot, as it's on actual disk space, but lasts 30 days until like /tmp/ which has a lifespan of 10 days or the first reboot.
