Good morning! Happy Snowy Tea-Party Day. π¨
Maybe today is a good day to be dumping tea into the harbor after all. With the rain, snow and fog, the authorities probably aren’t going to notice you dumping a bunch of source-separated organic matter into the Boston Harbor. But who knows what the weather is like in Boston. We certainly aren’t getting the heavy snow they’re getting out in the hill towns.
Rain and sloppy snow and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. β There is a north breeze at 6 mph. π. There are 3 inches of snow on the ground. β οΈTemperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around noontime. βοΈ
My last day of working before December 27th. π€Ά I have next week off, and then I’m back for that four day week after the Christmas break, as the other director has that day off. Yesterday I also had off, and Wednesday I worked from home. It’s kind of nice to have some off before the end of the year is done, and I am still going to loose some time that I can’t roll over to the new year.
Yesterday Big Red got inspected π and got his new sticker with no issues, although the trail hitch is rotted out. I try to cover things with oil and keep the truck clean but it’s tough, after going through 11 winters, heading into the 12th one now. I don’t know how many more years Red has left, but he’s paid for and I am doing smaller trips, and certainly during the winter I don’t drive much. Last year, I doubt I even did 6,000 miles throughout the year, preferring to stay closer to home.
My hope is to get out camping for a few days next week, π it will definitely involve a shovel, a hot tent and skies. Probably just a local state forest like Rennselearville State Forest or Cole Hill State Forest, dragging gear back on a sled. I would have preferred to go out to Brookfield, but I doubt I could find parking. I could call the DEC Office in Sherburne to see if they plow out any of the area around the horse camp for snowmobilers — they might and drag gear back to the horse camp, and set up a tent there, but I might just stay local.
I do need to get a snow shovel. βοΈ I was off work yesterday to go shopping but then with the independing snow storm they canceled the holiday the party, and I decided after my car inspection, there was no need to go out as I had enough food and supplies. I am not that worried about having too much snow to need to dig out at home, as the landlord takes care of the driveway and gives me a very weak, shitty plastic shovel to clean the steps off in front of where I live. But I think it will be mostly a rain event in Delmar. I also didn’t want to rush to the store before the snow storm, lest they jack up prices or not have any shovels in stock. Maybe on Sunday or Monday I’ll get one, especially if I make up my mind where I want to go.
