Good Evening – September 17, 2021

Good evening! 16,000 steps today. Not bad for an ordinary Friday. 🚶

Got down to the library and got another book out. Packed clothes, filled water container and got kayak on my truck. I’m ready to head north tomorrow morning fairly early.

Partly clear and 68 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌃 Calm wind. The dew point is 65 degrees. The muggy weather ends Sunday around 1 am. 😓

I could have driven up north tonight 🛻 but I don’t like driving after dark on deer filled roads 🦌 although years ago this was the weekend I always liked to go up to Moose River Plains. That said it’s such a long trip and I don’t really like those rough roads very much.

I am actually not totally sure where I will go, I was thinking Stewart Landing 🛶 and then up to Piseco-Powley Road but I also think they’re might be nice color for hiking Pillsbury Mountain ⛰. But I kind of want more shot at the Potholers and to do some floating in the tube 🔘 in the East Canada Creek 🍁. Soon it will be too cold ❄ for that.

I should have gotten propane 🏮 on Monday when I was out and maybe groceries tonight for camping so I’ll need to do both in the morning. 🌅 I want to get a pretty easy start, setting the alarm ⏰ for 6:30 like a regular work day. I’m off Monday and Tuesday so wherever I go I’ll spend three 3⃣ nights. Figure one last hurrah in the Adirondacks before it gets really cold out up north and the leaves are done until mid May.

SEPTEMBER 28th is a special day. 🌞

If you stand out in the sun at 12:45 PM, which is halfway between sunrise and sunset, you will CAST A SHADOW that is the SAME LENGTH as your height.

This is because at the midpoint of that day, the sun will have an angle of 45 degrees. The tangent of 45 is 1. Any number divided by 1 is equal to numerator.
