Samsung Reveals its New DDR5-7200 512GB RAM Modules | Digital Trends
Samsung is among the brands that will release DDR5 RAM this year — and it seems the manufacturer has an industry- first in the works. During Hot Chips 33, an annual semiconductor disclosure event, Samsung revealed the development of its first DDR5 512GB RAM module. This new memory module is said to offer an up to 40% increase in performance over DDR4, combined with double the capacity and a lower voltage.
The announcement of the new massive memory stick was accompanied by more in-depth information about its architecture. DDR5-7200 is going to be a 512GB module made out of eight-stacked DDR5 dies. The dies are said to be connected with the use of through-silicon via (TSV) technology. The upgrade to eight dies is significant. It shows a marked improvement over DDR4 memory, which was always limited to four dies even in the best RAM available.
And I thought my laptop was the shit when it came with 12 gigabytes of memory -- I still don't rarely use all of it except when using the largest tasks with QGIS or maybe PANDAS but even that is rare.
US attorney details illegal acts in construction projects, sealing the fate of the
The ill-fated construction of new nuclear reactors in South Carolina—one of two such troubled Westinghouse reactor construction projects in the United States—was abruptly terminated on July 31, 2017, but the effort to determine legal accountability for the project’s colossal failure is only now hitting its stride.
The South Carolina legislature conducted hearings about the project’s collapse. But it has fallen to the United States Attorney for South Carolina to outline internal decisions that led to project abandonment—via court filings, plea agreements, and indictments. These filings are proving to be the best documentation so far of criminal behavior related to projects that were part of a much-hyped “nuclear renaissance” that began in the early-2000s but has since petered out in the United States.
On August 18, 2021, a second Westinghouse official was charged in a federal grand jury indictment filed with the court in Columbia, South Carolina. The charges outline “the scheme” to cover up key details about the problem-plagued project to construct two 1,100 megawatt (MW) Westinghouse AP1000 light-water reactors at the VC Summer site north of Columbia.

It’s so fucking creepy. And hell of it is most of them won’t fit my big jacked up truck. πΉ
I went to the shop today and got my oil change done, but they said it wasn’t worth-while to rotate the tires, I just need to bite the buck and get new tires on the old gal sooner rather then later. While they might not be worn down quite to the wear bars, π€₯ (okay, well, some of them are so close) after nearly 6 years of riding on rough roads, the dry rot has set in pretty bad. The cupping — mostly pre-alignment manual alignment after repairs last summer — is the least of tires ‘s problems. And the best tires are on the back traction wheels.
Next week I will start calling around. First I I want to have new tires on and all alignment issues fixed before I go down to West Virginia in mid-October want to get the truck to Watkins Spring to have them do a computer alignment on their big truck computerized alignment rig which my local shop doesn’t have. Then I need to figure if I should go to the off-road shop that installed the lift kit or just an ordinary tire shop to order, balance and install the big tires. Mavis Tire does have Nitto Terras — which I like — but can they order 35s? Not sure. Working downtown full-time will make that easier — as I can just grab a bus to any of those places.
It’s going to be big bucks, but I make good money, and I want to keep this truck on the road for a few more years before throwing it away. I figure $1,500 for the tires when you throw in mounting/balancing and taxes, and $500-$1,000 for the alignment and certain to be found broken hardware, but I like my big truck. I’m glad the oil change is done — should be good for the rest of the year, and I don’t have to worry about trashing the tires anymore by not getting them rotated sooner, as they already are pretty bad.
I want to have new tires on and all alignment issues fixed before I go down to West Virginia in mid-October — maybe Columbus Day Weekend or maybe later.

While most of Big Pond is part of the Middle Mountain Wild Forest, about 200 feet of shore line is privately owned. The folks in the cabin where really friendly when they stopped by in their electric pontoon boat, but it did kind of wreck the scenic view especially from where I was camping.
