I am glad the heat is breaking

It’s been a tough few days with the heat and no air conditioning. Things are back to normal in the sense that the library is mostly open normal hours but I’m still home more than in the past due to remote work. I need to mop up the floor and scrub up the mold spots that are popping up in my apartment from the constant wetness from the humidity. I was hoping this would be less of a problem when the landlord fixed the plumbing issues but no such luck.

But the way I look at it is I like my $50 a month electric bills and I figure I’m not only saving money I’m conserving resources. Being used to the heat is a good thing as the planet is only getting warmer as are summers locally and I don’t want to be forever imprisoned by the feeling of artificial cold.

Congress Reverses Controversial Trump Rollback Of Methane Emissions : NPR

President Biden has signed legislation that will more vigorously regulate climate-warming methane leaks from the oil and gas industry, a move supporters say is key to achieving his ambitious climate goals.

Earlier this month, House lawmakers voted to reverse a Trump administration rollback by passing resolutions under the Congressional Review Act, which gives them the ability to undo agency rules passed in the last months of the previous administration. The Senate approved the measure in April.

The signed resolution reverses an Environmental Protection Agency methane rule finalized last year and leaves in place a stricter 2016 EPA rule, finalized during the Obama administration.

Canada to Ban New Gas-Engined Car Sales by 2035

Canada to Ban New Gas-Engined Car Sales by 2035

The 2035 target is part of the country's plan to achieve a net-zero emissions economy by 2050, with the federal government already offering a $5000 subsidy for purchases of EVs priced under $55,000, with the province of Quebec adding a maximum of $8000 on top of that federal subsidy. In 2020 the government of Quebec announced an identical plan to phase out the sales of gas and diesel passenger models in the province by 2035, and aims for 22% of new car sales to be zero-emission far sooner, by 2025.

Soaking Up The Sun

During the day while camping down at Horsehoe Lake, I brought Big Red down to the lake where there wasn't the shade from the trees so it could better soak up the sun.
