Intellectual Property Laws are Holding America Back

Maybe I’m a socialist but I think any product that is infinitely divisible and whose use and enjoyment doesn’t impact the use and enjoyment of others should be in the public domain.

Markets are useful for allocation of scarce resources but are immoral and unjust for allocation of things that are not scarce and do not get used up.

Rather than relying on private sector funding for research and development of technology, it should be government funded with the results of government research put out there for all to use without charge.

Obviously, in such a system not only would the government fund innovation but so would charitable organizations and those who just come up with good ideas to serve the advancement of humanity.

I would repeal all patent and copyright laws. I believe that would encourage all innovation to be widely shared and premoted in the public interest rather than private business interests.
