Living paycheck to paycheck is disturbingly common – Times Union
I think a lot of the problem is those big color televisions that people have with the nauseating pictures that tell people 24-7 to buy, buy, buy. Plus how so much of our youth are indoctrinated by slimmy college loan officers that push debt as an acceptable thing to utilize from the youngest of adult years.
I am kind of glad I decided that I went to Cherry Ridge Camping Area in Madison County rather than the East Branch of the Sacandaga River / NY 8 this weekend.
I am kind of glad I decided that I went to Cherry Ridge Camping Area in Madison County rather than the East Branch of the Sacandaga River / NY 8 this weekend. As scenic as the Adirondacks and the East Branch are there is the constant drone of traffic and trucks downshifting along NY 8 versus only a handful of hunters pickups here. Camping on the East Branch at times feels like camping in the median of an expressway. Plus in many ways the scenery of Madison County is rather different from the Finger Lakes where I was two weeks ago. And much less snow.

They just plowed and sanded Brown Road. Plus the sun is out. Which means if I drive somewhere today I won’t have to worry about the road being to slippery with the inch of snow that fell although I’m still planning to New Years Eve as the road will be even more of a mosh pit should we get 3/4 inch of rain and my tent isn’t that waterproof, plus the rain is supposed to come in fairly early on New Years Eve. Today probably just going to hike up the ridge I like to hunt along, tomorrow go for a walk around Glimmerglass State Park and then head home, assuming that the forecast remains the same.
Americaβs highest court needs term limits
"A more workable change would be to appoint justices for single 18-year termsβstaggered, so that each president gets two appointments per termβrather than for life. Each presidential term would thus leave an equal mark on the court, and no single justice would remain on the bench for 30 or 40 years. New blood would make the court more vital and dynamic. A poll taken in July showed widespread bipartisan support for term limits. So long as former justices were prevented from standing for office, becoming lobbyists or lawyers after stepping down from the court, this would be an improvement."
