Getting away this weekend for some rest and relaxation in the wilderness. πŸ•οΈ Hoping for a mostly rain-free weekend, but I'll take whatever the weatherman gives. πŸ˜ƒ And then it's just cruising into Memorial Day πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²Weekend and kicking off. ⭕️ I was looking at the tube and thinking it won't be long before I'm floating down the East Canada Creek. πŸ–οΈ

Looking forward to a nice weekend πŸ•οΈ

It’s been much too long since Ive spent a night or two in the wilderness, with the last real trip up to the Adirondacks during the Good Friday – Easter Weekend in late March. How fast the time goes!

I got back home pretty late last night πŸŒƒ after the Pine Bush Hike, but fortunately on Thursday morning I did some prepping by filling the water containers, getting gear out and clothes packed. This morning was busy but managable, and I managed to get my eight hours of sleep in last night. πŸ›οΈ Went shopping this morning at Walmart, filled my cart with fresh strawberries and blueberries πŸ«πŸ“ that are now in season, and quite affordable. I like frozen ones at home, but fresh ones are a special treat up at camp, especially served with some greek yogurt and walnuts. πŸ₯£

The Save the Pine Bush had only a few people  🚢but it was a nice cool down walk after a vigerous ride around the Pine Bush. I forgot how much fun mountain biking at the Pine Bush Preserve can be — especially after all the rain we’ve had lately 🐸 the sand is well packed for good riding. Sometimes the sand can be kind of deep in the Pine Bush. Plus, I have a new front tire on my bike now.

Saturday might be a bit wet 🌧️ or at least cloudy, but I’m hoping for a quiet day on Saturday to do some reading. If it’s truly cold, I packed my propane heater and extra layers. 🐜 I bought some extra big cans of 40% DEET and the screen tent to help battle the black flies, which might be bad especially after such a wet spring. πŸ“šοΈ I got a bunch of E-Books and Podcasts to listen to πŸ“»οΈ so I figure I can have anice day.

Sunday is looking great, 🚡 planning to spend the bulk of my day on the Catskill Scenic Trail riding, enjoying the scenery, taking some pictures and relaxing. I am not planning on rushing home, though I do want to be home before dark. But that’s not until 8:30 PM so I should have my whole day to enjoy. I put aside clothes for work on Monday, so I don’t have to go the laundormat until I’m back home and I should have enough groceries to at least start out the week, and I can always pick up more riding to work. 🚴

Did you see how warm and sunny next week is going to be? 😎 I know the early models showed the nice weather cruising into Memorial Day Weekend  πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡² but alas those models are changing. But unless it’s a complete wash out, I’m still thinking next weekend will be the Green Mountain National Forest. 🌲🌲🌲 Seems odd to be planning a camping trip right after I get back from this weekend, but my early May trip never occurred out to Catskill Scenic Trail so that’s why it’s happening this weekend. Also, was looking at my rubber tube for creek floating. ⭕️ Looking forward to those days, especially on the East Canada Creek come the end of black fly season.

We are quite short-staffed today in my department πŸ‘¨‍πŸ’Ό so I am kind of doing everything but it’s a quiet afternoon. So I’m just working as the short-order cook when anything comes in. I sort of know what I’m doing. It will be fine, or so I tell myself, lol.

I was surprised that Ad Revenue  πŸ“ΊοΈ is down on the blog again, even though traffic is up. Those advertising can be a fincky thing at time, but I guess I won’t be getting an Adsense check next month. It will roll over to July I guess. Maybe traffic will pick up further as more people look for camping info, with Memorial Day Weekend rapidy approaching. Truth is the blog doesn’t make that much revenue, it’s almost not worth the annoyance of the ads, though I like that it does cover the hosting and domain costs.
