Red Creek Valley

Looking down through the sods, you can see the diversity of the ecosystems there. On the western faces of Allegheny Front you have blueberry bushes and only a few trees, while on the protected from weather, eastern faces there are many hardwood forests. The upcountry is very dry, while the area around the Red Creek is very swampy, as the extreme rainfalls that hit the western-facing parts of the front quickly drain into the valley.
