Today was crazy. Got Big Red back, the maintenance turned out to be a lot more expensive than expected, because one of the transmission dipstick tube was broken. At least dirt and dust didn’t get in and wreck the transmission. It is what it is, I’ll take money out of savings and move forward. The air conditioning is nice and cold. It shifts nice and smoothly.

At the same time, work was insane today. But I survived and now it’s the weekend, and I’m enjoying a nice cold glass of orange juice. Next weekend is vacation.

July 15, 2016 9 AM Update

So how is your Cow Apprechiation Day going?Β Partly sunny and 74 degrees in Delmar. Calm wind. The dew point is 69 degrees. I’m sure without much of a breeze and the high humidity the cows aren’t appreciating it much.

Today will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high of 90 degrees at 3pm. Seven degrees above normal. Fairly warm but a little less humid then yesterday. Β Light south wind becoming southwest 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Maximum dew point of 69 at 8am. The record high of 96 was set in 1997. The sun will set at 8:30 pm with dusk around 9:04 pm, which is 40 seconds earlier than yesterday. Today will have 14 hours and 58 minutes of daylight, a decrease of 1 minutes and 31 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 7pm. Partly cloudy, with a low of 65 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Maximum dew point of 65 at 8pm. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1946.

0.1 inch of rain expected between Friday 2pm and Friday 7pm. 0.3 inch of rain expected between Monday 8am and Tuesday 1pm. Within the next four days, a total of 0.4 inches of rain is expected. We have some muggy weather coming up. Friday 8am – Friday 11am. Maximum temperature will be 84 degrees, a heat index reaching 86, and a maximum dew point of 69. The afternoon is not expected to be very humid but in the evening the humidity will increase. Maximum temperature will be 89 degrees, a heat index reaching 91, and a maximum dew point of 68.

On this day in 1959, the Steel Strike of 1959 gets underway, forcing contractors to either import steel or delay construction projects. Many chose to import lower-cost steel, with the result being the US Steel industry never recovering.

There are 2 weeks until National Lasagna Day when the sun will be setting at 8:18 pm with dusk at 8:50 pm. Garfield would approve. Β The average high temperature is 82 degrees, with a record high of 97 in 1894.

I’m a bit annoyed that I don’t have Big Red back. But I should have him back this afternoon but it will mean I’ll have to leave work a little early. I should have called before I went down to the shop. They recharged the air conditioning. Which is what I expected. They just didn’t get the fluid changes done yesterday as they didn’t have the GM transmission fluid in stock or some bull like that. Β It is what it is. I should have it back for the weekend.

I look forward to the weekend.Β With a deep breath. That’s all I can say.
