Monday, Monday

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. So it has. Mostly cloudy with haze and 65 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 65 degrees. The air quality index is a healthy 33. The muggy weather ends Thursday around 2 am. ๐Ÿ˜“

I’m out walking ๐Ÿšถ though not as early as I would like as I have a bad case of the Monday’s plus there isn’t the smoldering cars around the High School ๐Ÿšธ and I don’t have to iron my clothes before work. Decided to give my eyes ๐Ÿ‘€ a break for now and wear glasses ๐Ÿ‘“ for my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ Plus I find the humidity to be kind of a demotivator to getting moving plus the eye issues I had over the weekend.

I started out this morning with a hard-boiled egg ๐Ÿฅš to get some protein before the morning walk. ๐Ÿƒ I am been having too much sugar lately, and I besides boosting the fiber in my diet I am coming around the way of the keto folks on having more protein and fiber from eggs and other lower-calorie sources like certain beans and meats. Then for breakfast, I am going to pulverize some white beans and mix them in the cream of wheat with strawberries and blueberries. ๐Ÿต While I don’t like overusing my food chopper, as I think food should be chewed not drunk, it does work good for hiding things like beans in your breakfast.

Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฉ, with a high of 81 degrees at 2pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 23rd. Maximum dew point of 71 at 12pm. South wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 93 degrees. The record high of 99 was set in 1952.

We are stuck in that rather hot, humid unstable weather pattern โ›ˆ๏ธ that is common this time of year. Could get soaked any minute type deal. Sucks for people that have this week off from work – used to be my usual choice though not in recent years as I like to break my summer up more. ๐Ÿ˜… Won’t make the evening walk fun but if it’s not raining, I might go down to the park and read for a while then do some steps as darkness approaches and it’s not as hot. ๐Ÿ“š As  At least the air quality is relatively good today, though we need to watch how much the Canadian wildfire smoke pushes in later in the day.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.7° from the due south horizon (-0.1° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.1 foot shadow today at noon time. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:55 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (297°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (304°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:38 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 28 seconds with dusk around 9:12 pm, which is 3 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the south-southwest (213°) at an altitude of 37° from the horizon, 245,656 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:58 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 75 degrees. The dew point will be 69 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 21 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 19 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy , with a low of 66 degrees at 5am. Five degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 70 at 6pm. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies. It was humid. It got down to 61 degrees. The record low of 45 occurred back in 1970.

On this day in 1963, U.S. President John F. Kennedy gave his “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech, underlining the support of the United States for democratic West Germany shortly after Soviet-supported East Germany erected the Berlin Wall. ๐Ÿฉ Also, The Universal Product Code is scanned for the first time in 1974 to sell a package of Wrigley’s chewing gum at the Marsh Supermarket in Troy, Ohio.๐Ÿ›’

Cloudy and rain showers for Independence Day Weekend ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Saturday, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 66 at 12pm. Sunday, showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 67 at 12pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

I’d like to get out of town this weekend ๐Ÿšฒ but finding a bicycle is a higher priority and it depends on the weather. I might look at bicycles at a few places on Saturday then camp โ›บ maybe in Schoharie and do the Mine Kill Pool ๐ŸŠ‍โ™‚๏ธ maybe hammock camping. Depends on whether or not I get Monday off as a holiday. Actually I’m thinking the following weekend might be quieter and better for some lazy floating in the Adirondacks along Piseco-Powley Road. A lot depends on the weather. I might due Betty Brook but I worry I can get that campsite, though the little one is rarely taken as most people either go for the big lower site or the field site. Not sure. If it looks wet and I have a bike to ride, I might stay close to home and see what I can explore on the bicycle.

Looking ahead, there are 8 weeks until World Mosquito Day ๐Ÿž when the sun will be setting at 7:50 pm with dusk at 8:18 pm. On that day in 2022, we had hot, partly sunny and temperatures between 88 and 70 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 98 back in 1916.

Kelley Stand Road

Second day of summer ๐Ÿ–

Honest I’m up and going this morning, though I’m still in still in quite a haze this morning despite making sure to be in bed by nine o’clock last night.

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž and 54 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… Calm wind. The dew point is 52 degrees.

Out for the morning walk ๐Ÿšถ and I’m not feeling it today. 7 ¾ miles yesterday. I got to bed ๐Ÿ› on tike last night but I think I’m still half asleep despite sleeping in to six. The sun โ˜€ in sky helps a lot.

Hoping to walk down to the Park and Ride this morning, ๐Ÿš as I’m running close to on time this morning and I have an extra lunch in the office ๐Ÿข as I got home early enough last night to eat at home. Not a session day, they’re gone, so no shirts to iron.

Today will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 75 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 31st. Maximum dew point of 56 at 6pm. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 7 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 67 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1954.

I think I’m good on groceries ๐Ÿ through Friday night though I think tomorrow in the evening I’ll go shopping ๐Ÿ›’ after the store is restocked. I think I want to get more shorts and especially boxers and under shirts as my current ones are much too large and my boxers at times are slipping off. With warmer weather coming I should continue to think about quick cold meals that don’t require much cooking. Beans and rice are a once a week thing so they don’t require too much heat and can be eaten cold. ๐Ÿฅ˜

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:58 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.8° from the due south horizon (-0° vs. 6/21). The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:55 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (297°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the borthwest (304°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:38 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 28 seconds with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 12 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the west (266°) at an altitude of 30° from the horizon, 252,135 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:58 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 68 degrees. The dew point will be 57 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 22 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 seconds over yesterday.

Looking at my pay stub ๐ŸŽซ person it looks like I didn’t get my federal deduction quite right so I’m going to have to talk to the pay roll office about fixing that today. State taxes are good. So I guess that’s a step forward. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ I’ll have to talk to the Payroll office to get that straightened out.

Tonight will be scattered showers, mainly between 11pm and 3am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 60 degrees at 6am. Typical for tonight. Maximum dew point of 60 at 6am. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 60 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1940.

Humid with thunderstorms this weekend. ๐ŸŒฉ Saturday, a chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 82. South wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Maximum dew point of 71 at 1pm. Sunday, showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Maximum dew point of 70 at 10am. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees.

This weekend, I still want to look at bicycles. ๐Ÿšฒ I would really like to be able to start commuting to work as soon as next week on a bicycle. I am going to part out my existing bicycle, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be better to start out fresh with a good used or new bicycle, something more designed for road riding then a hybrid bicycle. Then keep it in good maintance, especially keeping that back tire well inflated. Bicycle tires should be checked weekly for pressure based on the bicycle repair manual I’ve been reading. Every day I delay, it’s costing me a bus fare ๐Ÿš’ to say nothing of the health benefits of riding back and forth to work. Or how handy it would be able to set up camp and then ride to trail heads, especially in more spread out areas like Piseco-Powley Road or even Moose River Plains. ๐Ÿšต‍โ™€๏ธ

I am also thinking about going to visit John Wolcott on Saturday and then do an afternoon hike in the Pine Bush. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿฆ‹ I doubt I’ll see as many Karner Blues at this point, as we are a few weeks past the lupine bloom but it’s always a nice hike in the Albany Pine Bush, especially as dusk approaches. Plus I am sure I will end up forgetting to get groceries at the store on Friday and will end up stopping at Market32 in Guilderland, although based on the affordable surprisingly affordable prices at Hannaford in Voorheesville ๐Ÿฌ maybe that’s where I should be going.

I am hoping the following weekend — Independence Day Weekend ๐ŸŽ† to get out of town. A lot depends if they give us that Monday July 3rd off as a state holiday. It could happen. The issue is camping four nights straight — I’ll need a permit or have to move mid-weekend. I worry about things filling up, especially if it’s nice. I could do the Green Mountain National Forest, though I guess your not supposed to be lighting off fireworks in the National Forest, though I doubt locally they do much enforcement on the 4th of July unless it’s very dry. Plus, I want to get fireworks on my way out there. Piseco-Powley would be fun again that weekend, but I don’t know if I will be able to get a campsite, though maybe I could leave early on Friday.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Ugly Truck Day ๐Ÿšš when the sun will be setting at 8:29 pm with dusk at 9:01 pm. On that day in 2022, we had hot and humid weather, mostly sunny skies and the inevitable  thunderstorm and temperatures between 97 and 72 degrees. I think I was out camping in Finger Lakes National Forest that week. Or 4 weeks, was that week before and I was in the office? I don’t remember. I should think about summer vacation and what week I want to take off. Typically, the high temperature is 84 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1991.

 Yesterday On Lake Pleasant

Super Hazy this Evening on Bennett Hill ๐ŸŒ

Wildfire smoke again I believe as the AQI meters are all showing a spike in pollution from PM 2.5 and the haze has a brownish hint. Some might be humidity as rain approaches tonight but it also clearly looks like smoke. I’ve noticed smoke hangs over the hills and terrain much different than ordinary moisture haze which is much more consistent.

I am quite interesting in mining both EPA and Purple Air data to see if I can make more detailed real time air quality maps for my blog and social media. It would be neat to use Kriging to make really pretty maps of current air quality, especially if air pollution becomes a real issue Upstate this summer with wildfires going forward. Maybe the heavy rain this wedk will put a damper in the fires but I’m not convinced.

I think the throw away maps feature is now working correctly on the blog – a mistake in the SQL code was accidentally trashing the wrong maps and photos but after a few days experimenting I think it may be fixed. Next is implementing R code for automatically uploading such temporary maps directly to the blog just by executing code. I could develop a full API with authentication to do this but it really is much easier to just use my blogs native uploader controlled through a simple headless browser session using rselenium.

March 13, 2023 6 AM Update

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Rain showers, pitch black and 34 degrees for the morning walk. ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

With the time change and the clouds this is a dark morning for the walk ๐ŸŒƒ but I was out a few minutes before the half hour of six. Listening to the Stones Paint It Black and noticing more sunlight as seven o’clock approaches. Oatmeal, cherries strawberries and bananas ๐Ÿฅฃ for breakfast. I still pancakes in my refrigerator from the other day but after a heavy Sunday dinner I wanted something lighter with more fiber.

Today will have a chance of rain and snow before 8am, then rain likely. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 40 degrees at 1pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 2nd. Southeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 34 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 2012. 22 inches of snow fell back in 1993.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:06 pm with sun having an altitude of 44.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-26.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:22 pm with the sun in the west (261ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ

The sunset is in the west (267ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:59 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:27 pm, which is one minute and 11 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:00 pm. The days seem so much longer these days with the changing times.

At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 38 degrees. There will be a east breeze at 6 mph. Tomorrow will have 11 hours and 54 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over today. I’m still hoping to get my evening ๐Ÿšถ and my steps in for the day ๐Ÿ‘ฃ but I’m the first to admit that tomorrow may be challenging depending on how much snow snow we get from the DIRE EMERGENCY SNOW storm that will probably be mostly rain โ˜” but what do I care I live in the city. Either the buses will be running or I’ll be working from home.

Tonight we will have rain before 9pm, then rain and snow between 9pm and 1am, then snow after 1am. ๐ŸŒจ The snow could be heavy at times, it’s still winter. But not really cold with around 33 which is about ten degrees above normal. East wind around 7 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible. I’m not thinking dire emergency but most people these days think two inches of snow qualifies as a DIRE EMERGENCY.

Today in 1991, the Justice Department announces that Exxon has agreed to pay $1 billion for the clean-up of the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska. ๐Ÿ›ข Oil spills can leave kind of a mess.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 37. Typical average high for the weekend is 46 degrees.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until 8 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 7:32 pm with dusk at 8:00 pm. On that day in 2022, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 49 and 36 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 57 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1922.

March 6, 2023 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Mostly sunny and 34 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒ…There is a northwest breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ with gusts up to 21 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. There are 7 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing at around 8 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

A pretty nice morning with a lot of sunshine โ˜€ but the wind is a bit obnoxious but the blue skies are nice for a change. Not that they are expected to last beyond today. Still mostly it will be relatively mild most of the week as spring ๐ŸŒธ approaches though a bit below normal for this part of March. Like always it will be cold until it’s no longer the case.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 41 degrees at 3pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 5th. Northwest wind 9 to 15 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 25 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1974. 10.5 inches of snow fell back in 1887.โ„

It should be a nice Monday, โ˜บ even if I do have to work ๐Ÿข in my office downtown. I should be able to get in quite a few steps in ๐Ÿ‘ฃ and do my best to enjoy the day. Not a session day until Wednesday ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿ’ผ but also not a pay week. But since I’ve been eating healthier and less my food bills have been less. ๐Ÿ I put in $40 in fuel โ›ฝ in my truck and did a four minute wash ๐Ÿšฟ yesterday but it will be parked ๐Ÿ…ฟ until Sunday so I’m not going to be burning fuel.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:08 pm with sun having an altitude of 41.7ยฐ from the due south horizon (-29.2ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 5:13 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (257ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ

The plan for today is to walk ๐Ÿšถ in Washington Park at lunch time and then in the evening to maximize my steps. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ Going to be a nice day by March standards but it would nice if it was a bit warmer and less snow and mud on the ground. Spring will come eventually.

The sunset is in the west (263ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:51 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 6:18 pm, which is one minute and 13 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the east (86ยฐ) at an altitude of 14ยฐ from the horizon, 249,751 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:52 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 38 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 13 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 30 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.

I am bringing in a big load of fresh fruit for my office ๐Ÿ as I was running low by the second half of the week last week. Usually keep the frozen fruit for home and the fresh stuff for work where I don’t have a freezer. Always like to he nibbling on it through out the day to keep my blood sugar ๐Ÿš level so I’m not so hungry and wanting a big meal when I get home. I definitely feel healthier and more level headed, not sure if I slimmed down much but like anything it’s a journey and it takes time.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 24 degrees at 5am. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 8th. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph. In 2022, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 15 degrees. The record low of -6 occurred back in 1950.

Today in 1857, Supreme Court of the United States rules in the Dred Scott v. Sandford case. โš–๏ธ After the Civil War it was overruled much like Row v Wade was. ๐Ÿคฑ I don’t like the abortion promotion industry or sex outside of marriage and procreation or the disposablity of life. But whatever. I’m more okay with gas stations selling abortion pills or grocery stores but not in glossy cases with television commercials between Saturday children shows.

Not a particularly nice weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜ž Saturday, a chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Sunday, a chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Typical average high for the weekend is 43 degrees.

Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until 8 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 7:32 pm with dusk at 8:00 pm (Daylight Savings Time). On that day in 2022, we had partly cloudy, warm and temperatures between 74 and 49 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 57 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1922.

 Rocks Were Falling

January 21, 2023 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Mostly cloudy and 34 degrees in Bethlehem, NY. โ˜ There is a northwest breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. There is a inch of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing at around 5 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Kind of a cold and gray Saturday. โ˜๏ธ There is just enough of a breeze this afternoon to make it rather unpleasant out. I started the day out the library, doing some research and playing with R Studio ๐Ÿค– specifically as it relates to urban planning data from the Census Bureau. I am continuing to learn more about the Census and it’s data both for a practical perspective and so I can develop skills for my future. It’s good to know what data is out there, so I can whip up some quick code and get some data out to clients who need it. Plus it’s a great way to fill space on the blog.

This afternoon will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 35 degrees at 1pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 9th. Northwest wind around 7 mph. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 31 degrees. The record high of 61 was set in 2006. 7.2 inches of snow fell back in 1990.โ„

The plan for this afternoon is to bundle up and get some exercise by walking out to Five Rivers. ๐Ÿธ It’s a cold and gray, nasty day but I always like walking out along Meads Road, seeing the cows ๐Ÿ„ and then observing nature at Five Rivers, followed by hiking back along Fisher Boulevard. This way I don’t have to worry about walking along the road as dusk approaches. ๐ŸŒ† Plus it’s a great chance to get caught up on podcasts.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:07 pm with sun having an altitude of 27.4° from the due south horizon (-43.4° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 11.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:11 pm with the sun in the southwest (236°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (243°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:54 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 16 seconds with dusk around 5:24 pm, which is one minute and 15 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:00 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 34 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 38 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 55 seconds over yesterday.

Also been continuing to run the numbers ๐Ÿ”ข and think about my Mission Fifty Plan. I think my financial plan as it stands is fairly secure, though having to replace my truck in a year or two will have a temporary dip, though I don’t plan to have something has a fancy or nice for my next truck. Thinking small, though I do want a truck cap for camping. I kind of like the Toyota Tacomas, as they are easier to drive and park, though I might consider another regular cap-short bed Silverado if it means I can reuse my cap. The other thing I’ve been thinking about is how to get more involved and knowledgeable about homesteading and off-grid living — I should look for events and classes to participate in. I am also thinking about taking a class in welding. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿญ A lot though should involve stay the course.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 23 degrees at 2am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 5th. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2022, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 23 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1984.

Looking, there are 3 weeks until Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day ๐Ÿฅ› when the sun will be setting at 5:23 pm with dusk at 5:50 pm. On that day in 2022, we had partly cloudy, snow showers and temperatures between 26 and 12 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 35 degrees. We hit a record high of 59 back in 1981. Do mop up milk though, as it kind of stinks when spoiled, but maybe compost those milk-soaked paper towels, as it’s good fertilizer.

Snow Covered Farm Fields

March 11, 2020 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. ๐Ÿซ I should share one of those Homesteady videos of them milking the camel. Dairy farming with a camel isn’t much bigger than a cow ๐Ÿฎ but they are taller and their teats are a bit different. Three weeks to April Fools Day ๐Ÿคก. Trout season ๐ŸŽฃ is coming. My license is good but I should check my gear. โ˜‘

Partly sunny with some haze and 35 degrees at the CDTA Bus Stop #10595. โ˜€ There is a northwest breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Nicer morning than I expected. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 4 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Little tired and my eye ๐Ÿ‘€ was a bit irritated at first this morning due to scratching it last night removing my contact. Mornings still are quite dark but were picking up already quite a bit of time in the morning. It’s worth it for the extra daylight in the evening ๐ŸŒ‡ but I haven’t had much time to enjoy it because I’ve been busy.

Today will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 48 degrees at 3pm. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 24th. North wind 5 to 9 mph. Not as warm as the past few days but not too bad. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 43 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 1977. 4.1 inches of snow fell back in 1941.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:06 pm with sun having an altitude of 43.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-26.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:20 pm with the sun in the west (260ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (266ยฐ) starting at 6:55 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:25 pm, which is one minute and 11 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:59 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 44 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 11 hours and 44 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 31 degrees at 5am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 29th. Sounds perfect although with Pine Bush stuff I may end up staying in town. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ But that is fine. It’s only going to get better as spring approaches.
