Second day of summer ๐Ÿ–

Honest I’m up and going this morning, though I’m still in still in quite a haze this morning despite making sure to be in bed by nine o’clock last night.

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž and 54 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… Calm wind. The dew point is 52 degrees.

Out for the morning walk ๐Ÿšถ and I’m not feeling it today. 7 ¾ miles yesterday. I got to bed ๐Ÿ› on tike last night but I think I’m still half asleep despite sleeping in to six. The sun โ˜€ in sky helps a lot.

Hoping to walk down to the Park and Ride this morning, ๐Ÿš as I’m running close to on time this morning and I have an extra lunch in the office ๐Ÿข as I got home early enough last night to eat at home. Not a session day, they’re gone, so no shirts to iron.

Today will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 75 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 31st. Maximum dew point of 56 at 6pm. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 7 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 67 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1954.

I think I’m good on groceries ๐Ÿ through Friday night though I think tomorrow in the evening I’ll go shopping ๐Ÿ›’ after the store is restocked. I think I want to get more shorts and especially boxers and under shirts as my current ones are much too large and my boxers at times are slipping off. With warmer weather coming I should continue to think about quick cold meals that don’t require much cooking. Beans and rice are a once a week thing so they don’t require too much heat and can be eaten cold. ๐Ÿฅ˜

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:58 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.8° from the due south horizon (-0° vs. 6/21). The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:55 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (297°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the borthwest (304°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:38 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 28 seconds with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 12 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the west (266°) at an altitude of 30° from the horizon, 252,135 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:58 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 68 degrees. The dew point will be 57 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 22 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 seconds over yesterday.

Looking at my pay stub ๐ŸŽซ person it looks like I didn’t get my federal deduction quite right so I’m going to have to talk to the pay roll office about fixing that today. State taxes are good. So I guess that’s a step forward. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ I’ll have to talk to the Payroll office to get that straightened out.

Tonight will be scattered showers, mainly between 11pm and 3am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 60 degrees at 6am. Typical for tonight. Maximum dew point of 60 at 6am. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 60 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1940.

Humid with thunderstorms this weekend. ๐ŸŒฉ Saturday, a chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 82. South wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Maximum dew point of 71 at 1pm. Sunday, showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Maximum dew point of 70 at 10am. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees.

This weekend, I still want to look at bicycles. ๐Ÿšฒ I would really like to be able to start commuting to work as soon as next week on a bicycle. I am going to part out my existing bicycle, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be better to start out fresh with a good used or new bicycle, something more designed for road riding then a hybrid bicycle. Then keep it in good maintance, especially keeping that back tire well inflated. Bicycle tires should be checked weekly for pressure based on the bicycle repair manual I’ve been reading. Every day I delay, it’s costing me a bus fare ๐Ÿš’ to say nothing of the health benefits of riding back and forth to work. Or how handy it would be able to set up camp and then ride to trail heads, especially in more spread out areas like Piseco-Powley Road or even Moose River Plains. ๐Ÿšต‍โ™€๏ธ

I am also thinking about going to visit John Wolcott on Saturday and then do an afternoon hike in the Pine Bush. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿฆ‹ I doubt I’ll see as many Karner Blues at this point, as we are a few weeks past the lupine bloom but it’s always a nice hike in the Albany Pine Bush, especially as dusk approaches. Plus I am sure I will end up forgetting to get groceries at the store on Friday and will end up stopping at Market32 in Guilderland, although based on the affordable surprisingly affordable prices at Hannaford in Voorheesville ๐Ÿฌ maybe that’s where I should be going.

I am hoping the following weekend — Independence Day Weekend ๐ŸŽ† to get out of town. A lot depends if they give us that Monday July 3rd off as a state holiday. It could happen. The issue is camping four nights straight — I’ll need a permit or have to move mid-weekend. I worry about things filling up, especially if it’s nice. I could do the Green Mountain National Forest, though I guess your not supposed to be lighting off fireworks in the National Forest, though I doubt locally they do much enforcement on the 4th of July unless it’s very dry. Plus, I want to get fireworks on my way out there. Piseco-Powley would be fun again that weekend, but I don’t know if I will be able to get a campsite, though maybe I could leave early on Friday.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Ugly Truck Day ๐Ÿšš when the sun will be setting at 8:29 pm with dusk at 9:01 pm. On that day in 2022, we had hot and humid weather, mostly sunny skies and the inevitable  thunderstorm and temperatures between 97 and 72 degrees. I think I was out camping in Finger Lakes National Forest that week. Or 4 weeks, was that week before and I was in the office? I don’t remember. I should think about summer vacation and what week I want to take off. Typically, the high temperature is 84 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1991.

 Yesterday On Lake Pleasant

No Lillies Yet On Lilly Lake

I got to get back to Lilly Lake come later in the summer when more lilies and flowers are in bloom. It's always a beautiful paddle and a nice afternoon heading up there from Stewart Landing.

Taken on Saturday June 10, 2017 at Canada Lake.

February 12, 2023 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Partly sunny and 40 degrees at the Bennett Hill Preserve. There is a east-southeast breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 10 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

It’s the Sunday morning hike on Bennett Hill ๐Ÿ—ป same one I do every week before going out see the folks. Nice day though it started out cold. But it is now starting to feel like a mid March day. Sun angle has been getting a lot stronger the past few days so when it’s sunny out and not too windy it warms up fast.

This afternoon will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 45 degrees at 3pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 15th. East wind 3 to 5 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 16 degrees. The record high of 55 was set in 1932. 13.5 inches of snow fell back in 1988.โ„

Split pea soup ๐Ÿฅ™ for lunch at my folks house and then I’ll probably sit out back with the dog ๐Ÿถ. If I leave early enough I might do a jot up Blodgett Hill. Then I need to get some groceries ๐ŸŒ, mostly the perishable healthy kind. If not for needing oranges and bananas for work I probably could skip that trip. But I’m eating healthier in my 40s.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:11 pm with sun having an altitude of 33.7ยฐ from the due south horizon (-37.2ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:44 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (245ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (252ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:24 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 3 seconds with dusk around 5:52 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:26 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 42 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 10 hours and 29 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 37 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 27 degrees at 6am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 18th. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph after midnight. In 2022, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 5 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1875.

One month ๐Ÿ“… from now will be Daylight Savings Time ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 6:59 pm with dusk at 7:26 pm (Daylight Savings Time). The average high temperature is 34 degrees, with a record high of 61 in 1895.

Starting Up the Spruceton Trail

January 21, 2023 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Mostly cloudy and 34 degrees in Bethlehem, NY. โ˜ There is a northwest breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. There is a inch of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing at around 5 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Kind of a cold and gray Saturday. โ˜๏ธ There is just enough of a breeze this afternoon to make it rather unpleasant out. I started the day out the library, doing some research and playing with R Studio ๐Ÿค– specifically as it relates to urban planning data from the Census Bureau. I am continuing to learn more about the Census and it’s data both for a practical perspective and so I can develop skills for my future. It’s good to know what data is out there, so I can whip up some quick code and get some data out to clients who need it. Plus it’s a great way to fill space on the blog.

This afternoon will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 35 degrees at 1pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 9th. Northwest wind around 7 mph. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 31 degrees. The record high of 61 was set in 2006. 7.2 inches of snow fell back in 1990.โ„

The plan for this afternoon is to bundle up and get some exercise by walking out to Five Rivers. ๐Ÿธ It’s a cold and gray, nasty day but I always like walking out along Meads Road, seeing the cows ๐Ÿ„ and then observing nature at Five Rivers, followed by hiking back along Fisher Boulevard. This way I don’t have to worry about walking along the road as dusk approaches. ๐ŸŒ† Plus it’s a great chance to get caught up on podcasts.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:07 pm with sun having an altitude of 27.4° from the due south horizon (-43.4° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 11.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:11 pm with the sun in the southwest (236°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (243°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:54 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 16 seconds with dusk around 5:24 pm, which is one minute and 15 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:00 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 34 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 38 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 55 seconds over yesterday.

Also been continuing to run the numbers ๐Ÿ”ข and think about my Mission Fifty Plan. I think my financial plan as it stands is fairly secure, though having to replace my truck in a year or two will have a temporary dip, though I don’t plan to have something has a fancy or nice for my next truck. Thinking small, though I do want a truck cap for camping. I kind of like the Toyota Tacomas, as they are easier to drive and park, though I might consider another regular cap-short bed Silverado if it means I can reuse my cap. The other thing I’ve been thinking about is how to get more involved and knowledgeable about homesteading and off-grid living — I should look for events and classes to participate in. I am also thinking about taking a class in welding. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿญ A lot though should involve stay the course.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 23 degrees at 2am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 5th. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2022, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 23 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1984.

Looking, there are 3 weeks until Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day ๐Ÿฅ› when the sun will be setting at 5:23 pm with dusk at 5:50 pm. On that day in 2022, we had partly cloudy, snow showers and temperatures between 26 and 12 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 35 degrees. We hit a record high of 59 back in 1981. Do mop up milk though, as it kind of stinks when spoiled, but maybe compost those milk-soaked paper towels, as it’s good fertilizer.

Snow Covered Farm Fields

May 22, 2021 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Partly sunny and 80 degrees in Saratoga, NY. โ˜” There is a west breeze at 8 mph. ๐ŸŒค๏ธThe dew point is 59 degrees. The skies will clear around 7 pm.

This afternoon I am going to my niece’s birthday ๐ŸŽ‚ party in Saratoga. Then I will go home and I have some work to do. ๐Ÿ“ At least I can work from home. ๐Ÿก Then I’ll probably go down to the river ๐ŸŽฃ to do some fishing. ๐Ÿ  Kind of a hot day. It’s fun to be going to a party with everybody vaccinated so no social distancing. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Even though we wear masks in the elevator at work, along with on the bus, we all know that is for show.

This afternoon will have a slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Mostly cloudy โ›… , with a high of 86 degrees at 3pm. 13 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 59 at 12pm. West wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 83 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1911.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 67.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-3ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:38 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (293ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (300ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:20 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 20 seconds with dusk around 8:52 pm, which is 58 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the south-southeast (158ยฐ) at an altitude of 42ยฐ from the horizon, 228,545 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:36 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 77 degrees. The dew point will be 58 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 54 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 47 seconds over yesterday.

I ordered more jeans ๐Ÿ‘– and new boots ๐Ÿ‘ข as while my existing boots are okay they are getting worn down and probably only have a few weeks before they really fall apart. I also need jeans without holes and big stains before I go back to the office ๐Ÿข on casual dress days. Need to put my winter clothes back in the closet ๐Ÿงฃ and get out more summer clothes. I should work on repairing my camp lantern ๐Ÿฎ tonight if I have time.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm. Partly cloudy ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 65 degrees at 5am. 15 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 61 at 2am. West wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2020, we had mostly clear skies. It became humid as the night progressed. It got down to 60 degrees. The record low of 36 occurred back in 1967.

I might need the fan running indoors tonight โ˜ข although I’m not totally sure. Rather save electricity and just sit out back until things cool down a bit. I like being outdoors โœจ which is maybe why I’ve long refused to have air conditioning. Even though it’s hot now by evening it should be pretty nice out back with a cold glass of water. ๐Ÿฅ›

I was pretty set on Friday being my last counseling session ๐Ÿ’ญ but I got talked into doing another in three weeks. I have some better ideas for dealing with my anxiety and keeping things in context and in the grand scheme of things most of my issues pretty minor, I’m quite successful in my career and position pays well but there are still some topics I find difficult to discuss – namely my love of all things fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ – and I need to resolve to advance further in my career. ๐Ÿ’ผ

My off grid property and moving out west are dreams that continue to come closer but I have some unrealistic fears ๐Ÿก and worries I need to address further in my life but there is more to do. I feel like I’m having a hard time communicating with my therapist and I’m spending more and more money ๐Ÿ’ต but I’ve allocated $200 in copay for the process and while I told myself I’d reevaluate at $100 I’m going to give it one more try in three weeks. I just feel like I could do a lot better for myself if I addressed that one issue in my life, so I can take the next step and make more money. I just don’t understand my fear of that one stupid topic.

I cut my cellphone ๐Ÿ“ฑ plan down to the 10 gigabyte Hotspot plan as I find myself using the Hotspot data less now that it’s warmed up and I only used like 6 gigabyte the past month and it was more personal use as most of my work internet is Lexis or bill research and email which doesn’t use much data. ๐Ÿ“ถ Plus the library is now open for in person use with a mask ๐Ÿ˜ท and my ability to work in the office whenever I feel like the need to have a lot of bandwidth at home isn’t necessary but limited access for work emails is important while I’m still working from home or the woods a few days a week. Many days now I’m leaving the laptop at work so I’m not constantly hauling back and forth on the bus ๐Ÿš.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ when the sun will be setting with dusk at 9:05 pm. On that day in 2020, we had hot and humid, partly sunny skies with thunderstorm โ›ˆ and temperatures between 85 and 71 degrees. I am thinking Memorial Day Weekend doesn’t look great so that’s my next best chance to get away. Really would like to do Piseco-Powley Road but maybe it makes sense first to do a long weekend, say it, back in Spectulator and remote work ๐Ÿ’ป on the Friday and Monday. Typically, the high temperature is 77 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1925.

I need this flag for camping

November 11, 2020 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Rainy Armistice Day. ๐Ÿช– One can be critical of Trump on many levels but at least he’s kept us out of war. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ Maybe it was just dumb luck ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป. Rain and 63 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a south-southeast breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 62 degrees. Temperatures will drop below freezing tomorrow around noontime. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Yesterday I went downtown for meetings and to do a bunch of training classes. ๐Ÿซ Kind of a boring day ๐Ÿ’ค but it was nice getting out and seeing the old office ๐Ÿข. Definitely a nice sunset. I went for my evening walk. ๐Ÿšถ๐ŸปI also went over to John Wolcott house for a while ๐Ÿ” looking through old documents. ๐Ÿ“

This morning I didn’t wake up until late ๐Ÿ› but that was fine because it was a work holiday for Veterans Day. I spent a while looking through old papers at my own home looking for the checkbook ๐Ÿ’ต and an envelope โœ‰ so I can get my direct deposit reestablished at work. Tomorrow morning I’ll walk to the post office ๐Ÿ“ฌ and get a stamp on it so I can get that reestablished. Also did some cleaning in the kitchen and bathroom ๐Ÿšฝ.

Veterans Day will have occasional showers. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 63 degrees at 2pm with the mercury continuing to drop as the front rolls through. 19 degrees amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 43 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 2002. 3.0 inches of snow fell back in 1906.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž was at 11:40 am with sun having an altitude of 29.8ยฐ from the due south horizon (-41ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 10.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:56 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (239ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (247ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:38 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 10 seconds with dusk around 5:06 pm, which is one minute and 2 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:41 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 63 degrees. The dew point will be 62 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 53 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 17 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be occasional showers, mainly before midnight. ๐ŸŒง Low of 46 degrees at 6am. 13 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 29th. South wind 6 to 13 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 19 degrees. The record low of 15 occurred back in 1976.

Weekend forecast is improving but seasonable cold. โ˜€๏ธSaturday, sunny, with a high near 48. Sunday, a chance of showers after 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 53. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Typical average high for the weekend is 49 degrees.

Still think it will be a stay-at-home weekend. ๐Ÿก

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Earliest Sunset of the Year โŒ›๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:21 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain showers, cloudy and temperatures between 47 and 37 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 38 degrees. We hit a record high of 62 back in 1966.

Cedar Mountain Road Sign

September 26, 2020 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Mostly sunny and 71 degrees at the Indian Lake. There is a south breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 54 degrees.

Absolutely stunningly beautiful fall day. ๐Ÿ‚ I just got done hiking Watch Hill, and headed up to Indian Lake to upload some photos and hike Sawyer Mountain after lunch.โ›ฐ Then I will prboably head back to camp and read ๐Ÿ“– for a while, enjoying the nice breeze and colors from the hammock and then have a nice dinner before it gets too dark.

Hiking Watch Hill was fun but I wasn’t happy to discover I had no cell service up there. ๐Ÿ“ฒ That wasn’t so cool as I’m supposed by supervising staff that is working, but fortunately I received no work related emails or texts ๐Ÿ“จ during that time. I was planning to make sure I had good reception all weekend but that wasn’t to be. But I still had a very nice hike.

Been waking up early, ๐ŸŒ„ with the early sunsets and falling asleep after having a couple of beers.๐Ÿป I normally don’t drink much but with the nights as long as they are and things are so crazy lately, what’s a few beers at camp.

This afternoon will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 75 degrees at 4pm. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 10th. Maximum dew point of 56 at 6pm. South wind around 10 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 69 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 2017.

I thought about driving out to Cedar River Flow or Moose Plains, ๐Ÿšถbut I think I’ll just do Sawyer Mountain if it’s not too crowded. Otherwise I guess I will go up to Blue Mountain Lake and hike around Lake Durant and some of the North Country Placid Trail before heading back to camp down by Mason Lake. I am glad I did get a campsite on Thursday night, as by Friday I think they all were taken.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:49 pm with sun having an altitude of 44.7ยฐ from the due south horizon (-24.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:10 pm with the sun in the west (262ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (269ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:48 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 7:15 pm, which is one minute and 51 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the south-southeast (149ยฐ) at an altitude of 19ยฐ from the horizon, 240,494 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:50 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 69 degrees. The dew point will be 56 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 57 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 3 minutes over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers between 1am and 3am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 55 degrees at 4am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 8th. Maximum dew point of 58 at 8pm. South wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Northern Zone Regular Season ๐ŸฆŒ when the sun will be setting at 6:09 pm with dusk at 6:38 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 52 and 46 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 59 degrees. We hit a record high of 85 back in 1947.
