That rye bread I made this morning was pretty good ๐Ÿฅ–

Mom picked me up some rye flower and dill weed and adding some wheat flour, yeast, water, salt and some vital wheat gluten made some good bread. Wish I had more rise though, I could try more yeast next time or a higher portion of vital wheat gluten and less wheat flour. Wheat flour is difficult as it is very low in gluten and is heavy with all that healthy protein and fiber.

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Mostly sunny and 30 degrees in Albany, NY. There is a west breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. There are 0.3 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธCold start to the morning, though warming up quickly, it will be above freezing by 9 AM.

Rode my bike in again to work today. ๐Ÿšฒ Like I do most days, while the weather is decent. Today is share cookies day in the office ๐Ÿช so I had to be careful riding in with my bike box full with my laptop, lunch, snacks, and a large glass pyrex container full of cookies I baked. ๐Ÿ“ฆ ๐Ÿช ๐Ÿ’ป ๐ŸŽ’ But with careful ride in on the somewhat snowy and icy bike trail I made it in safely. I did make sure my basket was good and tight to the panier rack, and things bungeed down, and easy on the bumps.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 37 degrees at 1pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 18th. West wind 5 to 7 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 31 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1901. 12.5 inches of snow fell back in 1956.โ„

Working back downtown again today. ๐Ÿ“ƒ I wouldn’t want to miss the exchange cookies day this afternoon, ๐Ÿช plus I like the

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:50 am with sun having an altitude of 24.1° from the due south horizon (-46.6° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 13.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:37 pm with the sun in the southwest (231°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (239°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:23 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 24 seconds with dusk around 4:53 pm, which is 11 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the southwest (223°) at an altitude of 6° from the horizon, 230,431 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:30 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 36 degrees. There will be a south-southwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 7 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 34 seconds over yesterday.

Big Red passed his inspection with no issues, ๐Ÿ”Ž๐Ÿ›ป the oil changed and tires rotated. Prices have gone up a bit in the shop, I think it was about $94 bucks for all three things but I should be good until next summer except should random things break or need repair before then. Makes me want to go back to changing my own oil, lol. ๐Ÿ›ข I want to get another year out of Big Red if at all possible, so I’ll feed it parts beyond engine or transmission tear-down type repairs. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ”ง Rust continues to be an issue but I’ve been painting it with red primer, and some point maybe in the spring I’ll cover with duplicate color match. ๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐ŸŽจ I haven’t put the hub caps back on, will do this weekend after I do a quick check of the torque of the wheel nuts, lest the shop mess that up. ๐Ÿ”ง Can’t happen twice, right?

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 28 degrees at 3am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 29th. South wind around 8 mph. In 2022, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 16 degrees. The record low of -8 occurred back in 1874.

Today in 1994, started construction begins on the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze river. The Three Gorges Dam has been the world’s largest power station in terms of installed capacity (22,500 MW) since 2012. In 2014, the dam generated 98.8 terawatt-hours (TWh) and had the world record, but was surpassed by the Itaipú Dam, which set the new world record in 2016, producing 103.1 TWh. ๐Ÿž Also, today was a notable date in civil rights history, with the release of the Heart of Atlanta Motel, Inc. v. United States, 379 U.S. 241 (1964), a landmark United States Supreme Court case holding that the Commerce Clause gave the U.S. Congress power to force private businesses to abide by Title II of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination in public accommodations.

Mild and pretty nice for the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜€ Friday is going to be in the fifties. And Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 45. North wind around 6 mph. Sunday, more clouds push in especially late, with a high near 47. Typical average high for the weekend is 38 degrees.

Took The Skis Off

July 6, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 67 degrees in Stratton, VT. There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 57 degrees. With that breeze it feels a bit cold at times, especially with the breeze, and laying back in the hammock.

It was a pretty nice day up in Vermont, lots of sun โ˜€ and not too hot. Battery bank and laptop got close to fully charged despite using the laptop for about half the day for finishing up a report and what seemed like an endless Zoom meeting. ๐Ÿ“น I just had this fear that my internet connection was going to drop during the meeting or the cellular internet connection would have problems but it all worked out fine.

No fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ tonight, instead I had a late dinner after my hour and half stroll down to Shep Meadow.

While Forest Road 71 is a nice walk with scenic curves and gentle grades, I don’t think I realized how long some of those grades were until I walked them. ๐Ÿšถ

I also spent an hour rereading part of the Cabin Porn book ๐Ÿ“™ I got out of the library, studying the pictures more carefully of the various cabins and alternative living arrangements. ๐Ÿก As much as I like camping I hope some day – maybe in a decade – I’ll have a simple place out in the country I’ll call home. ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ” I have to say that the lantern ๐Ÿฎ is burning bright ๐Ÿ”† these days which is good for reading ๐Ÿ“– and the tent ๐ŸŽช was quite bug free. ๐Ÿœ

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 60 degrees at 3am. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around July 2nd. Maximum dew point of 59 at 11pm. South wind 3 to 8 mph. Honestly with the clear skies, I could see it getting even colder. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 64 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1979.

Tonight will have a Waining Gibbous ๐ŸŒ– Moon with 95% illuminated. The moon will rise at 10:06 pm. The darkest hour is at 12:57 am, followed by dawn at 4:45 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:20 am in the east-northeast (57ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 27 seconds. Sunrise is 40 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:03 am with sun in the east-northeast (65ยฐ). Tonight will have 8 hours and 46 minutes of darkness, an increase of one minute and 2 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers between noon and 2pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 74 degrees at 2pm. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 2nd. Maximum dew point of 61 at 3pm. South wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. It was very sticky. The high last year was 81 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1988.

It doesn’t seem like its going to be as hot tomorrow as I thought it would be at least up north here. ๐Ÿ—ป But I still think I need to head to West Wardsboro after work to get ice. And maybe a quick swing by Grout Pond to swim ๐ŸŠ and get cleaned off. Then I should be good until Thursday or Friday depending on how the ice holds up with the heat. I don’t think it will be nearly as warm here especially as I’m on a bit of a ledge with a good breeze and a fair bit of shade. ๐Ÿƒ I don’t expect the weather to be amazing but I’m sure it will be better than at home.

In four weeks on August 3 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (295ยฐ) at 8:10 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 23 minutes and 10 seconds earlier then tonight. Days by then will be getting noticeably shorter, with the sun much closer to the west. In 2019 on that day, we had thunderstorm and temperatures between 85 and 66 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 82 and 61 degrees. The record high of 97 degrees was set back in 1975.

Well I think I’m going to wash up and head to bed. ๐Ÿ˜ด I often stay up too late when camping and my sleep suffers as the sun rises early this time of year, although this campsite is nestled in the mountains so the actual sunrise ๐ŸŒ… is later here then the official time would suggest.

Stopping at the Red River

February 13, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a northwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Enjoy the mild weather now because it’s going to be cold tomorrow and Saturday. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing at around 11 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I went to the library after dinner and got participated in the CDTA online focus group ๐Ÿš that’s supposed to send me an $25 Amazon gift card for participating. It was a really odd thing, seemed legitimate but I’ll believe it when I get it. Asked questions about the bus service then asked to click which one I agreed with more. I didn’t have to give any personal information and it was only 40 minutes at the library so I saw no downside. I could sorta do other things in other tabs of the browser. ๐Ÿ’ป

I also spent some time looking at the DEIS for Crossgates Maul Apartment Complex. ๐ŸŒŽ I don’t understand it all, seems fine to me but Save the Pine Bush thinks it’s important to fight and so do I. I avoid all local politics these days but fighting development in the Pine Bush is a personal cause of mine ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ. I figure do something good for the community before I eventually leave New York for better places. Try to leave the land at least as good as I found it.

I heard that song, The Crucifixion by Phil Ochs and I had forgotten what a powerful song it truly is. ๐ŸŽถ Apparently it brought tears ๐Ÿ˜ญ to Robert Kennedy’s eyes ๐Ÿ‘€ when he heard it too. It still is powerful a half century later. I wish Phil Ochs had lived a much longer life, he could have done so much more for our country. Heck, I think Tom Paxton all these years later is still singing his songs.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 13 degrees at 6am. Four degrees below normal. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 26 degrees. The record low of -13 occurred back in 2016.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter ๐ŸŒ— Moon with 71% illuminated. The moon will rise at 10:46 pm. The Snow โ„ Moon is on Saturday, February 29. The darkest hour is at 12:11 am, followed by dawn at 6:28 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:57 am in the east-southeast (108ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 3 seconds. Tomorrow evening waiting out for the bus ๐Ÿš is going to suck. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 37 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1946. 23.5 inches of snow fell back in 1914.โ„

In four weeks on March 12 the sun will be setting in the west (267ยฐ) at 6:58 pm (Daylight Savings Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 34 minutes and 49 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, snow showers and temperatures between 38 and 27 degrees. Last March was super cold. Typically, you have temperatures between 43 and 24 degrees. The record high of 69 degrees was set back in 2012.

As I go to bed tonight, ๐Ÿ˜ด I was thinking how fast time goes by. But things are only getting better as time goes by. By the end of the year I might be older than the average Albany County resident but there is much to look forward to. Money ๐Ÿ’ต is growing slowly but steady at some point I’ll be able to afford my own land, an off grid property and a hobby farm. It’s still years off but not that far. I’m working hard and getting results. I can’t wait for a better tomorrow but wait I must as good things come to those who wait. Good night.

Looking ahead, 5:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 1 week, 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is a month away and Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 12 weeks.

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 29 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a southeast breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 9 am. 🌡๏ธ Not a half bad evening for January.

Rode the exercise bike 🚲 for about an hour, watching Keith Fink Farm’s latest video, catching up on NB88 off grid cabin in Maine and Andrew Camara tearing apart a pickup truck for the engine and the scrap metal. Got in an hour riding the exercise bike and then read 📖 for about a half hour the book on Rupert Murdock and his Fox News Empire 📰. Good book, I’m trying to devote more time to reading.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 28 degrees at 10pm. 14 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 22nd. Good evening! Partly cloudy and 26 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… Breezy, ๏ธ17 mph breeze from the northwest 🌬 with gusts up to 29 mph 💨💨💨. The current wind chill is 13. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at Sunday around noontime. 🌡๏ธ

I stayed home and rode the exercise bike 🚲 for over an hour or maybe an hour and a half until my knees were getting a bit sore and I was tired 😴. I then worked on typing up the catalogue 📇 for John Wolcotts files 📂. We have roughly 220 categories. I need to spell check and do some research and then print the labels 🔖. I don’t have a printer but I think John or Lynne can do it.

I was watching that Canadian trapper video 📹 and then one on Homesteady about first time calving, then an electronics teardown video on Big Clive electronics. Read for a while too. Eat the last of the pork roast 🐖 from the other week that I froze. That was good, pork roast is a treat for a change. As I tend to keep my bedroom cool, use red lighting only and screen filters, I’m already feeling really tired. Going to bed early and getting up early each day has really improved my sleep lately. 💤

I turned the gas heat up to 55 or 56 so it will probably run all night โ™จ but at least things won’t get too cold with the gas heat. I haven’t cleaned off the electric radiator up stairs but I rarely ever use that. I’m fine with keeping things cold – saves energy โšก and I’m comfortable. My main concern is pipes freezing although it is not super cold like some years yet.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌤, with a low of 11 degrees at 6am. Three degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around -5 at 6am; Northwest wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. In 2019, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 9 degrees. The record low of -23 occurred back in 1971.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter 🌗 Moon Moon with 55% illuminated. The moon will rise at 11:51 pm. You should be able to see it tonight if you stay up late enough. The darkest hour is at 12:06 am, followed by dawn at 6:52 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:23 am in the east-southeast (118ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 18 seconds. Sunrise is 29 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 8:07 am with sun in the southeast (126ยฐ) at an altitude of 6ยฐ. Tonight will have 14 hours and 33 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 42 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 20 degrees at 2pm. 10 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 6 at 3pm; Northwest wind 13 to 16 mph. That wind chill is going to be frigid. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 24 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 1889. 10.9 inches of snow fell back in 1994.โ„

I told John Wolcott I’d go to his house tomorrow after work 📂 but I’ll have my laptop and pack and I don’t want to carry it over there especially with the expected bitter cold โ„. Plus I’m thinking I might have a bit of a head cold. At least that’s what I can tell him assuming he doesn’t read 📖 the blog. Honestly I’d prefer to get the labels done and be working on the final sort before we do much more because the stuff we’ve been finding lately isn’t really all that historically important and interesting compared to previous stuff. I guess you never really know what a box has 🎁 until you open it. He saves too much paper 📄 in my opinion. Especially once I own my own place, I don’t need something it’s getting burnt or put in the scrap metal pile. There is just too much stuff in this world to keep with mass production – buy less and if your not using it, get some beer, get a big ol bonfire going and chuck it in it. 🔥 I can’t wait until I live in the country full time and have toys like four wheelers and tractors 🚜. I already have too much junk for sure and I always avoid buying stuff but it accumulates.

In four weeks on February 13 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (252ยฐ) at 5:23 pm,🌄 which is 36 minutes and 3 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had snow showers, partly sunny and temperatures between 38 and 21 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 34 and 17 degrees. The record high of 58 degrees was set back in 1900. That was a long time ago for sure.

I tell you, that wind is really roaring around.

Looking ahead, National Cheese Lovers Day 🧀 is in 1 weeks, Save the Pine Bush Turns 42 🦋 is in 3 weeks, 5:30 PM Sunset 🌆 is in 5 weeks, Flower Moon 🌕 is in 16 weeks and Average High is 70 🐮 is in 4 months.

January 6, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. It’s a five day work week once again. Been a long time since I’ve worked a full five day week but it should be busy and go quickly. Next Monday is Make Your Dream Come True Day ๐Ÿก. Maybe that’s a bit too soon for he but I can continue to save and invest. Snow showers and 28 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. โ„ Made for kind of a icy walk ๐Ÿšถ to the express bus ๐Ÿš this morning and I was running a little late but I made it in time. โŒš And I did not slip and fall, even those a few times it was a slosh. There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. There are 0.2 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at around 10 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Finished off the quiche that I made up on Sunday. ๐Ÿฅง It was very good, and no I did not die or have any bad taste from cooking up the pie shell that had officially expired on November 16, 2016. ๐Ÿ˜‹ It was pretty good and used up a bunch of eggs, with lots of broccoli, ๐ŸŒฑ cheese topping ๐Ÿง€ and breadcrumbs ๐Ÿž from some stale bread in the refrigerator. Except for the issue of the broiler not working well, it came out pretty good. You know it’s good if it only lasted for two breakfasts, and I was a hurry to have it both mornings. I got to make it again, but I need more broccoli and another pie shell mix, this time maybe with an expiration date six years newer or so.

Kind of a pretty day with the snow โ„ enough to glaze up the sidewalks and ramps. There was a wreck on one of circle stack ramps โญ•๐Ÿ’ข๐Ÿš“๐Ÿš•๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš™๐Ÿš™๐Ÿšš and traffic is just generally moving slow today. Warm enough though with the salt that on the major roads, things are moving well if a bit slow. But thanks to Iran and Trump ๐ŸŽบ there are delays on the bus turn around due to the gates being closed due to the supposed terrorist warnings. It’s annoying how sometimes the bus has to wait for the gates to open and close. I guess they are supposed to keep people safe, but we know it’s mostly to make the contractors rich with security theater.โŽ

Today will have a chance of snow, mainly before 4pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒจ, with a high of 37 degrees at 1pm. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 23rd. South wind 6 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. With the warmer temperatures I’m thinking the icy sidewalks won’t stick around. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 44 degrees. The record high of 71 was set in 2007. 12.7 inches of snow fell back in 2002.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:02 pm with sun having an altitude of 24.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-46ยฐ vs. 6/21). Almost to 25 degrees. Maybe tomorrow? The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:52 pm with the sun in the southwest (232ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (240ยฐ) starting at 4:34 pm and lasts for 3 minutes and 23 seconds with dusk around 5:08 pm, which is 58 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:44 pm. At sunset, look for snow ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 36 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 15 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 11 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 4 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 25 degrees at 5am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 14th. Maximum wind chill around 22 at 9pm; West wind 6 to 9 mph. In 2019, we had light snow in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 14 degrees. The record low of -12 occurred back in 1878.

I really am enjoying the big tin of hot coca mix I got from the store. โ˜• I wanted to have hot coca for my New Years Eve Camping Trip but I couldn’t find it at Price Chopper, not my normal store, and I was running late. It’s probably good, because those little packets of hot coca don’t always burn up completely when tossed in the fire with the thin layer of aluminum foil, and I was trying to camp in a “tread lightly” fashion, doing as little noticeable damage to the forest as possible. I’m not delusional enough to believe you can camp with zero impacts, but I like to keep my campsites as clean and tidy as possible, with anything that doesn’t full burn get packed out. ๐ŸŒฒ But at home, the big tin of hot coca is wonderful — especially in coffee or on a cold evening. I can always pack some in a ziplock bag for camping. Probably a lot cheaper that way too. I do wish the container it came in was recycable — but I can probably tear off the aluminum parts for recycling and burn the rest. โ™ป I normally do not have snacks at home, ๐Ÿฌ although maybe I’ll break that tradition as this week is $2.99 for all flavors at the Stewarts Ice Cream Special Week. Yum! ๐Ÿจ I already see myself falling off the wagon. Fortunately though, I don’t ever have alcohol at home for the most part.๐Ÿบ

Another rainy but mild weekend on tap. โ˜” Saturday, rain. High near 53. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Sunday, a chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Typical average high for the weekend is 30 degrees.

At least the rain will keep the salt off the roads. ๐Ÿ’ฆI have a lot of things to do in town next weekend including starting working on the Reszin Adam’s video – and possibly heading over to John Wolcott house to work on better labels ๐Ÿ”– for his files ๐Ÿ“‚.

๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒผOnly 73 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒผ

I am thinking about doing a camping trip over Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend in two weekends, ๐Ÿ• but a lot depends on the winter. This time if I do Cole Hill State Forest, I’ll make sure to leave a note on my truck where I am in case anybody reports it parked overnight. ๐Ÿ…ฟ Although, honestly if there isn’t too much snow I would truly prefer to camp up Moscow Hill Area in Brookfield — I just like seeing that beautiful farm country, ๐Ÿ„ plus it’s nice having those hardened campsites with the gravel and the pavilion. Ideally, if there is no or little snow, I could drive right back there.

As previously noted, next Monday is Make Your Dream Come True Day ๐Ÿก when the sun will be setting at 4:44 pm with dusk at 5:15 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 23 and 10 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 30 degrees. We hit a record high of 71 back in 1932.

January 2, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Back to work today after my five days away from work and some nice camping too. โ›บ It’s the New Year, full of hope and working for a better tomorrow. ๐ŸŽ‡ Next Thursday is Static Electric Shock Day ๐Ÿงผ. How shocking. Never have much problem with static in my apartment as the air is never real dry. Partly cloudy and 30 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. โ›… There is a south breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Things will start to thaw out at around 9 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 45 degrees at 3pm. 14 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 17th. It will feel almost like a spring day in January. ๐ŸŒธ No flowers yet but we can look forward to nicer days in about three months. Not seeing much cold in the forecast in the near future. South wind 8 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 34 degrees. The record high of 61 was set in 1890. 7.1 inches of snow fell back in 2014.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:00 pm with sun having an altitude of 24.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-46.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). It’s starting to climb a bit more as summer approaches. Not 70.8 yet! The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:48 pm with the sun in the southwest (231ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (239ยฐ) starting at 4:30 pm and lasts for 3 minutes and 24 seconds with dusk around 5:04 pm, which is 52 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:41 pm. At sunset, look for partly sunny skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 44 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 7 minutes of daytime, an increase of 48 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a low of 34 degrees at 1am. 18 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 6th. South wind 7 to 9 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 32 degrees. The record low of -14 occurred back in 1970.

I saw one of the CDTA all electric battery ๐Ÿ”‹ buses ๐Ÿš running the 233 Schodack Run today. I’m glad, electric buses are the future. They bought the buses last summer but now they are live. I am hopeful the technology works out well, as it could have a lot of emissions reductions. A lot of public transit authorities are adopting electric buses, and it could have a significant impact on local air quality — and possibly noise reduction too. Morever, the all electric buses will be cleaner and nicer neighbors — the low sulfur diesel fuel and pollution traps help a lot — but emissions controls aren’t always perfect. Also, the ANSWERS smoke stack is totally gone now — they finished tearing it down last week. It’s a commitment towards a cleaner air quality for all.๐Ÿญ

Not a particularly nice weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ™ Saturday, rain, possibly mixed with snow, becoming all rain after 7am. High near 40. Calm wind becoming northeast around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Sunday, a chance of snow before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 31 degrees.

Staying in town this weekend. ๐Ÿก I heard Saturday may be very wet. Maybe that’s when I’ll wash my truck. ๐Ÿš™ I can probably come up with enough groceries around town in the mean time. ๐Ÿด It’s good to use up the food ๐Ÿฒ I have at home. Not sure if I will do it this weekend but I want to go over to John Wolcott house and work on scanning in the index ๐Ÿ“‡ for his files ๐Ÿ“‚ and use it to make labels and a type set index to keep them better organized. It will have to be a Saturday so I can drive into the city with the big heavy Save the Pine Bush scanner.

I am continuing to research mental health services with my insurance provider and start to call around. ๐Ÿ“ž I am thinking a little bit of counseling and self reflection with a neutral party could really boost my productivity at work ๐Ÿ’ผ and open up new career opportunities. Maybe I’ll have more courage and confidence to do more job interviews or see a promotion and make more money ๐Ÿ’ต after some counseling. If I could turn 8 counseling sessions at $25 co-pay a piece over four months into a future $10,000 raise over a decade of investing that could be well over $100k and plug that gap in my future plans for the off-grid property out west. I have a lot of important decisions to make, especially as 2021 gets underway, and I want to make them as well as possible.

๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒผOnly 77 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒผ

As previously noted, next Thursday is Static Electric Shock Day ๐Ÿงผ when the sun will be setting at 4:40 pm with dusk at 5:11 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 40 and 32 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 30 degrees. We hit a record high of 62 back in 2008.
