March 30, 2023 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. โ˜บ

We are grooving our ways through the March, with April scheduled to start on Saturday but I’ll believe it when I see it. But I like getting out at five and taking the express home.

Partly sunny and 25 degrees for the morning walk on this Thursday in Delmar. ๐ŸŒ„Breezy, ๏ธ16 mph breeze from the northwest ๐ŸŒฌ . The current wind chill is 12. Honestly I don’t think it’s that cold out but maybe in the city with all those big buildings the wind is whipping around. Things will start to thaw out at around 11 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Cold day ahead but warm enough to not need the heat, โ™จ๏ธ as it will be above freezing and I’ll be at work all day.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 41 degrees at 5pm. 10 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 5th. Northwest wind around 16 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 44 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1986. 4 inches of snow fell back in 1911.โ„

Doesn’t seem like it’s going to be a particularly warm day today ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ but I figure I’ll be in the office ๐Ÿข most of the day and the sun shining on my desk is always nice. Been a relatively quiet week but know one of these days I’ll have a bunch of projects hitting my desk.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:01 pm with sun having an altitude of 51.1° from the due south horizon (-19.7° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:42 pm with the sun in the west (270°). ๐Ÿ“ธ

The sunset is in the west (276°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:19 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:47 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the southeast (144°) at an altitude of 69° from the horizon, 252,079 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:21 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 10 mph. Tomorrow will have 12 hours and 43 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over today.

Yesterday like usual I walked down to the park ๐Ÿšถ and got my 7.5 miles in for the day. Cooked up a big pan of rice, beans and lentils in the morning which I had with broiled salmon ๐Ÿ  and veggies which was pretty good. Got home, had some cherries ๐Ÿ’ and went to bed ๐Ÿ›. Woke up during the night and listened to a while to a podcast on the Central Limits Therom.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 23 degrees at 2am. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 7th. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2022, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of 12 occurred back in 1923.

Still wet for April Fools Day. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, rain before 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 68. Breezy, with a south wind 16 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Maximum dew point of 53 at 11am. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 44. Breezy. Typical average high for the weekend is 52 degrees.

After calling around I found a doctor ๐Ÿง‘‍โš•๏ธ that was taking new patients for my physical but not until the end of May. But I didn’t want to have to go into the city and this place is within walking distance from home which is good. It just seems wrong to drive to a doctor’s visit, kind of like smoking a cigarette the doctor gave you. ๐Ÿšฌ Gives me more time to get in shape and improve my health ๐Ÿฉบ and I’m not in that much of a rush.

Also made the appointment for my truck to be serviced on April 10th. ๐Ÿ”ง I wanted to have that done before I’m doing a lot more driving as I’m overdue for some fluid changes and with inflation trying to maximize use of my truck. ๐Ÿ›ป

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Arbor Day ๐ŸŒณ when the sun will be setting at 7:52 pm with dusk at 8:20 pm. On that day in 2022, we had mostly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 51 and 39 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 65 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1962.

March 23, 2023 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Clouds and 46 degrees for the morning walk here in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒฅ There is a south-southeast breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Rsin maybe later or maybe not.

Oatmeal ๐Ÿฅฃ for breakfast and now out for the morning walk ๐Ÿšถ listening to that John Prine record. ๐Ÿ’ฟ Dark morning with rain pushing in โ˜” or maybe not. I still think there is a good chance I’ll get my steps ๐Ÿ‘ฃ in for the day. Warm enough this morning the joggers are out ๐Ÿƒ and the birds are singing. ๐Ÿฆ Looks like Saturday it might dip below freezing early but I’m not likely to need my heat until October or maybe November at this point.

Today will have showers likely, mainly between 2pm and 3pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 58 degrees at 5pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 12th. Maximum dew point of 49 at 3pm. South wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 47 degrees. The record high of 80 was set in 1938. 6.1 inches of snow fell back in 2020.โ„

It was nice yesterday to have the windows open ๐Ÿ”ฒ while I was at work to let the fresh air in though I closed them before bed ๐Ÿ› as it cooled down. That said warmer days aren’t far away. Once it warms up a bit more I might stop wearing the muzzle so much but the other day after I got on the elevator a Republican hopped on and was coughing and sounded quite sick. ๐Ÿ˜ท I’m sure he probably wasn’t vaccinated and at this point my COVID-19 booster is probably wearing down. But I figure with the warmer weather the risk of colds and the COVID-19 drop way down plus my muzzles are getting worn out and I’m sure I’ll want them come the autumn.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:03 pm with sun having an altitude of 48.3° from the due south horizon (-22.5° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:34 pm with the sun in the west (266°). ๐Ÿ“ธ

The sunset is in the west (272°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:11 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:38 pm, which is one minute and 10 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (266°) at an altitude of 22° from the horizon, 236,707 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:12 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 54 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 14 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 23 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Got down to the park ๐Ÿž after a quick dinner finishing off the remaining brown rice ๐Ÿš lentils and carrots ๐Ÿฅ• I had made up. It was early enough I was able add some extra steps by walking ๐Ÿšถ a few laps of the nature trail before it was getting dark and time to go home. In bed at 8 which is good because I woke up during the night for a while. ๐Ÿ› I really need a night or two in the wilderness with a rip roaring fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ to restore my sleep.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before 9pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 35 degrees at 6am. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 10th. Northwest wind 15 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2022, we had light rain in the evening, which became light drizzle by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 36 degrees. The record low of 0 occurred back in 1875.

I’ve been debugging the new style sheet with the blog, ๐Ÿ“ which the responsive design mode hasn’t been perfect on all displays. That said, I think I’ve mostly worked out the major bugs. One of the issues I’ve had with is caching of the styles which cause a mix of the old and new to display, but I figured out a way to force the browsers to refresh it every time I change stylesheet by including the version number in the fetch for the style sheet.

Saturday still looks rainy โ˜”. Saturday, rain showers and snow showers, possibly mixed with sleet, becoming all rain after 2pm. High near 41. Southeast wind 6 to 11 mph increasing to 12 to 17 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Going to make the Saturday walk fun. Wear the rain coat I guess. Better Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 49. โ˜€ Typical average high for the weekend is 49 degrees.

Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until Arbor Day ๐ŸŒณ when the sun will be setting at 7:52 pm with dusk at 8:20 pm. On that day in 2022, we had mostly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 51 and 39 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 65 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1962.

I am alone, but the woods is full of sounds of birds, geese, rumble of airlines and trucks and traffic

February 17, 2023 Morning

Good morning! Happy Friday. Cloudy, dark and 51 degrees for the morning walk ๐Ÿšถ in the land of the Delmaratian. Maybe the reason it’s so dark is that it’s still 6:15 and February but I’m moving. There is a south breeze at 14 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 49 degrees. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 5 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Grabbed my hoodie and headed out and then took it off. ๐Ÿ˜ฐ Only a few more hours of the warmth though before the mercury starts dropping. That said, it wont get that cold tonight as it’s still February but I don’t be leaving my windows open while at work today. But April is like 45 days off a fact I’m sure my friends in the government budget office are well aware of.

Today will rain before 4pm, then a chance of rain and snow. ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ Temperature rising to near 54 by 10am, then falling to around 33 during the remainder of the day. Breezy, with a south wind 13 to 20 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. You get a little of everything in that forecast. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 24 degrees. The record high of 60 was set in 1981. 11.9 inches of snow fell back in 2003.โ„

No rain yet โ˜” but I’d say there is a decent chance I’ll taking the bus from the stop closest to where I live at 8 though who knows. Often they are overly pessimistic when it comes to rain. There are a ton of dog ๐Ÿถ walkers out bright and early today. Probably because it’s so mild.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 35.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-35.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 8.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:51 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (248ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (255ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:30 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 1 seconds with dusk around 5:58 pm, which is one minute and 17 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:32 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and snow ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 33 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 21. โ˜ƒ๏ธ Breezy, 20 mph breeze โ›… from the northwest with gusts up to 30mph. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 45 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 44 seconds over today.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 19 degrees at 6am. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical night around February 19th. Maximum wind chill around 6 at 5am; Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 22 mph. In 2022, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 19 degrees. The record low of -21 occurred back in 1973.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 41 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 3rd. Northwest wind 7 to 13 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 24 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1981. 6.3 inches of snow fell back in 2000.โ„

Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. South wind 5 to 11 mph. ๐ŸŒฅ Rain showers later in the day for President’s Day, 50. Typical average high for the weekend is 37 degrees. Not bad for President’s Day Weekend. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Probably heading out of town for the weekend ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ but I’m not set on it. Going to be mild for sure though after Sunday more cloudy. I sleep so much better after a few nights in the woods and I doubt I’ll have much of a chance come March until maybe later in April.

One month ๐Ÿ“… from now will be St. Patrick’s Day ๐Ÿ€ when the sun will be setting at 7:05 pm with dusk at 7:31 pm (Daylight Savings Time). The average high temperature is 34 degrees, with a record high of 61 in 1895.

Clarksville South Road Heading Towards Dormansville

February 7, 2023 Evening

Good evening! Rain showers and sleet and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ with gusts up to 28 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 7 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I wasn’t sure if I was going to go for the evening walk ๐Ÿšถ but I wanted to get my steps in and keep up my record of doing 10,000 steps every day. There is some sleet and rain this evening and it’s cold but it’s kind of scattered. Not the nicest evening ever โ˜” but I’m getting my steps in ๐Ÿ‘ฃ.

Tonight will rain showers and sleet, mainly before 9pm. ๐ŸŒง Low of 34 degrees at 10pm. 17 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 5th. South wind 7 to 10 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no sleet accumulation expected. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 9 degrees. The record low of -16 occurred back in 1950.

It was a pretty ordinary Tuesday at work ๐Ÿข. I made it home by six 6โƒฃ. I’ve continued to further automate some of the boring ๐Ÿ’ค tasks I do at work with R and selenium. Code usually makes less mistakes than I do.

Tonight will have a Waining Gibbous ๐ŸŒ– Moon with 95% illuminated. Not going to see it with the clouds. The darkest hour is at 12:10 am, followed by dawn at 6:35 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:04 am in the east-southeast (110ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 5 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 11 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:45 am with sun in the east-southeast (117ยฐ). Tonight will have 13 hours and 42 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 32 seconds over last night.

Going to bed ๐Ÿ› shortly. I guess the State of the Union address is tonight but I haven’t listened to a political address in years and will listen ๐Ÿ‘‚ to the Lex Fridman podcast in bed. Most political speeches aren’t really worthwhile to listen to with all their partisan talking points ๐Ÿ“ƒ, you can catch the important points in the morning news ๐Ÿ“ฐ. I’ll listen to NPR as I make breakfast ๐Ÿฅฃ tomorrow to learn what was noteworthy in the address. Truth is that if it’s not reported, doesn’t really matter what the politician said at any rate.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny โ˜๐Ÿ‘‰ โ˜€ , with a high of 42 degrees at 2pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 6th. Northwest wind 11 to 15 mph. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 23 degrees. The record high of 52 was set in 1925. 14.0 inches of snow fell back in 1895.โ„

Been doing a lot of reading ๐Ÿ“– and research on what it means to be your forties and peak ๐Ÿ—ป earnings years. ๐Ÿ’ต Whatever that means, it sure doesn’t feel like much money during such inflationary times with taxes so high. You can do all the right things but it feels like the deck is stacked against you. I know have made a lot of progress but I am growing impatient as things take longer to compound then I would hope and I want to own my own land ๐Ÿšœ. And I’m getting older ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป. But I’ll keep doing my best and those days will happen eventually.

In four weeks on March 7 the sun will be setting in the west (264ยฐ) at 5:53 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 35 minutes and 25 seconds later then tonight. In 2021 on that day, we had sunny and temperatures between 33 and 15 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 42 and 23 degrees. The record high of 62 degrees was set back in 1974.

Snowmobile Trail Climbs Henry Hill

February 7, 2023 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Clear and 13 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒ… Calm wind. There is a inch of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธJust waiting for the sun to rise on my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ. It is a cold and crisp morning, the air tastes like barnyard. ๐Ÿ” I’m not complaining. Things will start to thaw out at around 11 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

As the sun rises pretty early compared to recent weeks โ˜€ and it’s clear out, decided to do my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ earlier then normal. Helped that today was a breakfast reheat morning. I’m glad I decided to cut my meals ๐Ÿด in half and supplement with more fruits and vegetables. ๐ŸŠ I feel less stuffed and healthier though like anything else change takes time to compound.

Today will have increasing clouds ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ‘‰ ๐ŸŒฅ , with a high of 39 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 25th. Breezy, with a light and variable wind becoming south 15 to 20 mph in the morning. Kind of like yesterday. Maybe windier. Not been a very sunny winter. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 26 degrees. The record high of 48 was set in 2005. 12.4 inches of snow fell back in 1983.โ„

It’s a Tuesday. โ˜” Bringing my umbrella to work to be safe but I don’t expect rain by evening, especially when I bring my umbrella. Also packed bananas ๐ŸŒ and will swap with some of the oranges I have in the office to mix things up. I thought it would be good to have only oranges at work and bananas at home but I want to mix it up.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 32ยฐ from the due south horizon (-38.8ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 9.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:36 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (243ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (250ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:17 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 5 seconds with dusk around 5:45 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:20 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ an temperatures around 36 degrees. Breezy, 18 mph breeze โ›… from the south. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 19 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 33 seconds over today.

Started looking at my options for doctors.๐Ÿง‘โ€โš•๏ธ While I think I am generally healthy I’m forty now and I’m thinking a physical during the February break would be a good thing. It doesn’t look like I am due for any screenings beyond the normal blood pressure and hopefully that will be good with my walk and calorie reduction program. Saving and investing is good but health is important as that can be drain on finances.

Tonight will rain likely, mainly between 7pm and 9pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 34 degrees at 8pm. 18 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 7th. South wind 6 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 9 degrees. The record low of -16 occurred back in 1950.

I got my car insurance bill โœ‰ and it’s up to $475 for six months, up more than 10% from last year. Inflation I guess but the heck of it is that I drive so little and my truck is getting old, though I’m not ready to drop collision ๐Ÿ’ฅ yet on it. I wish I could take the insurance reduction class. Maybe I should look around at their competitors though I am generally happy with my plan. It does sort of make the case for getting rid of my vehicle and getting a bicycle ๐Ÿšฒ. That would be healthier. It’s fine, I have the money, ๐Ÿ’ต and I like to travel but it’s obnoxious as I thought turning 40 would lead to a modest cut in rates.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 39. Typical average high for the weekend is 35 degrees. Probably Five Rivers walk Saturday, Bennett Hill Sunday. Just the usual. Hopefully this week I won’t need to go to the store ๐Ÿฌ.

Looking ahead, next Tuesday is Valentines Day โค๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 5:27 pm with dusk at 5:54 pm. On that day in 2022, we had mostly cloudy, snow showers and temperatures between 28 and 15 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 36 degrees. We hit a record high of 63 back in 1946.

January 6, 2023 Night

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 37 degrees in Delmar. โ˜ There is a northwest breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 7 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

It’s a nice evening ๐ŸŒƒ for me evening walk after a rainy start to the day. I’m wearing my old boots ๐Ÿ‘ข as my new ones are bothering my ankle in part because they’re not broke in. I got the higher ankle boots to protect my ankles but they’ve not worked out good. I’m hopeful though. I will wear them to work on non session days but keep my old boots for walking around town until they are fully broke in.

Christmas Party ๐ŸŽ‰ at work was good, but odd with the holidays come and gone and people busy with session things. The bananas ๐ŸŒand oranges ๐ŸŠI brought went quick but I brought much too much milk ๐Ÿฅ›. I kept the extra milk in the fridge and brought it home and froze it. I’ll thaw it when I run out of milk. It’s odd as the last holiday party was pre COVID but I still wore my muzzle ๐Ÿ˜ท during most of the party. I was thinking with all that spare milk I need hogs. ๐Ÿฝ Maybe some day. But first my investments have to grow.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 33 degrees at 3am. 16 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 5th. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2022, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 16 degrees. The record low of -12 occurred back in 1878.

Tonight will have a Full ๐ŸŒ Moon with 99% illuminated. At 8 PM, the moon was in the east (86ยฐ) at an altitude of 37ยฐ from the horizon, some 251,906 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by July 16th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Wolf ๐Ÿบ Moon is on Sunday, January 22. The darkest hour is at 12:02 am, followed by dawn at 6:54 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:26 am in the east-southeast (121ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 22 seconds. Sunrise is 6 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 8:11 am with sun in the southeast (128ยฐ). Tonight will have 14 hours and 44 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 7 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 41 degrees at 1pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 3rd. Light north wind becoming northwest 8 to 13 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 31 degrees. The record high of 56 was set in 1915. 7.2 inches of snow fell back in 1994.โ„

I decided against turning the heat on tonight โ™จ as it’s not going to be super cold but I can see the writing on the wall – I’ll need at least a little heat come tomorrow. Still January. The warm weather pattern is breaking down thought still going to be relatively warm by historical standards. I just can’t wait until it’s warm enough to have the windows open ๐Ÿ”ฒ for the summer season and it’s easier sleep. ๐Ÿ› That said, I do better going to bed before nine most days.

In four weeks on February 3 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (248ยฐ) at 5:12 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 33 minutes and 50 seconds later then tonight. In 2021 on that day, we had snow showers, mostly cloudy and temperatures between 30 and 24 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 33 and 15 degrees. The record high of 57 degrees was set back in 2016.

I was looking at the January 6th memes on Facebook ๐Ÿคœ thinking what a tragedy the whole thing was all together. So many lives and families ruined for the sake of stupid politics. People who chose a life in politics often loose their lives and their freedom in America ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ. We like to pretend that’s not true but I would argue that those who die for their country without pay or benefits are the true American heros. While I think the whole rigged election thing was sham – Biden won fairly under the various state and federal rules in effect in 2020 – you got to respect anyone who raises their voice based on their convictions. But I would argue personal and family well being is far more important than the country as a whole. Making money ๐Ÿ’ต to put food on the table ๐Ÿฆƒ is more important than any ideological belief you may have.
