Piseco-Powley Road

Stretching from Stratford to Piseco, Piseco-Powley Road winds along the western edge of one of the last remaining old Adirondack dirt roads. Lined with venerable spruce trees, some nearly brushing against the road, it offers a glimpse of nature’s untouched beauty. The tranquil West Branch of the East Canada Creek intersects Powley Road at Powley Place. This spot is positioned 8 miles southwest of Piseco Outlet, where NY 10 crosses, and approximately 7.5 miles from the point Piseco-Powley Road branches off from NY 10. When approached from the south, Powley Place is found 10.5 miles northeast from Stratford via Piseco Road. Notably, this area hosts four campsites, forming part of the 22 designated camping spots along Piseco-Powley Road, enhancing the allure of this picturesque route.

Weekend #4 at House Pond Campsite

I spent a lot of my summer in 2021 at House Pond Campsite on Piseco-Powley Road, mainly because I really like the swimming hole on warm days when I hike down there and cool off and not have to drive anywhere, especially with the DWI laws these days. The only downside about camping there, is there isn't any place that is good for setting up a target and plinking and it's a bit closer to other campsites, so I can't listen to music quite as loud -- the nearest campsite is about 1,200 feet away.

Nice Autumn Day at the Potholers

Enjoying the cool waters on a hot late summer day in mid-September at the Potholers Swimming Hole, aka Bray House Falls on Piseco-Powley Road. Despite the mercury being around 80 degrees, the trees are turning colors.

Campfire

Just a nice evening sitting next to the virtual campfire.
