I am a temporary refugee from the heat. 😰 Or maybe it’s the for clarity of thought only the woods can bring. 🌲 But I’m getting away for a few days to work, plan and paddle from Spectulator 🏊 and then do some swimming and relaxing down at the potholers, floating away in the tube. ⭕️ And then maybe Lily Lake or Little Falls to paddle on Sunday. πŸ›Ά Not a full vaction but getting away a bit from the heat and craziness of it all.

Hammock Bug Net

I don't love being under the bug net as it can be hot and claustrophobic but it sometimes beats getting eaten alive.

Hillshade Of South Mountain

 Hillshade Of South Mountain

As natural processes go, humans are one of the most notable on how they have re-shaped the surface of the earth. Graded surfaces, such as roadways and carriageways are clearly visible on this LiDAR Hillshade along South Mountain and the Palenville Clove of the Catskills. Old carriageways, long abandoned or converted into hiking trails might not be visible on normal aerial photography, but still show up on this hillshade of the landscape. Zoom in and take a careful look at this image.
