May 31, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Where did May go? Still not June despite what I thought yesterday. May had 31 days. Next Sunday is Strawberry Moon ๐Ÿ“. Mostly sunny and 51 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜€ There is a northwest breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

Out hiking in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve and surrounding lands today. ๐Ÿšถ Doing some bird watching ๐Ÿฆ and plant identification ๐ŸŒฟ with some of my fellow citizen scientists, doing the kind of work that only people not affiliated with the government and governments and corporate grants can do. ๐Ÿ’ต It’s not to say government workers are bad people but they have to put food ๐Ÿฒ on the table like the rest of us. Definitely a beautiful day for sure. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Lots of people in the Pine Bush ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿ‘ช which is good for advocacy even if not as good for our research purposes. Not so many Karner Blue today due to the cold weather but lot of pretty blue lupine to look at and a fair number of grasslands birds although mostly common ones.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 64 degrees at 3pm. 10 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 30th. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 76 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 2013.

Regardless a beautiful day. ๐Ÿธ I might go to Black Creek Marsh later for more wildlife observation although midday ๐Ÿ•› might not be a very good time a dig might be better to wait for early tomorrow morning or around dusk tonight. I also didn’t pack much of a lunch so that’s a consideration too. ๐Ÿ” I probably should have packed a lunch but I stayed up too late last night ๐ŸŒƒ watching the protest, and was groggy ๐Ÿ˜ด and get a late start.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 69.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-1.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:45 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (295ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (302ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:27 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 23 seconds with dusk around 9:00 pm, which is 48 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the south (182ยฐ) at an altitude of 49ยฐ from the horizon, 226,344 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:44 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 56 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 11 mph. Going to be chilly, if I do decide to go to the Black Creek Marsh, I’ll want long sleeves. ๐Ÿ‘š Today will have 15 hours and 5 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 19 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 42 degrees at 5am. 10 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 30th. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light west after midnight. Going to be a chilly night. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 49 degrees. The record low of 35 occurred back in 1945.

Been reading ๐Ÿ“– a book I got out about the practice of welding and metal work. ๐Ÿ‘ท Welding is very much a skill of practice and I might some day get a welder when I own my own land and have a shop. Welding is a good skill to fix broken farm machinery ๐Ÿšœ or even fabricate something like a farm trash incinerator that I can use year round safely when I own land. ๐Ÿ”ฅ I’ve been doing a lot of reading ๐Ÿ“š about things besides politics, history and contemporary events because there is much in the natural and physical world I want to understand better. ๐Ÿฎ Cows and tractors, birds and bees ๐Ÿ are remarkably important parts of our world and I’m woefully ignorant. ๐Ÿ›

As previously noted, next Sunday is Strawberry Moon ๐Ÿ“ when the sun will be setting at 8:31 pm with dusk at 9:05 pm. Close to the latest sunset of the year. On that day in 2019, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 82 and 53 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 76 degrees. We hit a record high of 95 back in 1999.

 Hoosick

March 28, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Average High is 50 ๐ŸŒธ! That’s a real sign of spring. Three weeks to Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ. Partly sunny and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind.

I don’t think it was a bad idea ๐Ÿ’ก to stay home this weekend. Last night was beautiful ๐ŸŒƒ but it got chilly around eleven, though I’m sure it wouldn’t have been bad by a campfire. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Hoping for better weather next week, and maybe taking a three day weekend. Heck, maybe I can even work one day from camp if it’s sunny and quiet out. โ›บ

Today will rain likely, โ˜” mainly after 5pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 53 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 3rd. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1945. 14.2 inches of snow fell back in 1932.โ„

The plan for today is to walk ๐Ÿšถ at Schodack Island State Park โ›ฒ, return the broken MIFI adapter and pick up the work laptop, ๐Ÿ’ป get the Reszin Adam’s newspaper clippings ๐Ÿ“ฐ from John Wolcott, come home and work on my DEIS comments ๐Ÿ“ regarding the proposed Crossgates Development in the Pine Bush.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:01 pm with sun having an altitude of 50.6ยฐ from the due south horizon (-20.2ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:40 pm with the sun in the west (269ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (275ยฐ) starting at 7:15 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:45 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the west-southwest (256ยฐ) at an altitude of 40ยฐ from the horizon, 246,203 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:19 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 47 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 34 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain. ๐ŸŒง Low of 42 degrees at 4am. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 28th. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. At least that should get the salt off the roads and help things from getting too dried out, but it certainly won’t help with the mud. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 44 degrees. The record low of 0 occurred back in 1923.

Tomorrow morning early on, I’ll run to the laundromat ๐Ÿ‘š and go grocery shopping. ๐Ÿ I am probably not going to see my parents this weekend but we’ll see. I’ll call them and see how they go they’re doing. ๐Ÿ“ž I’ve been pretty isolated this week but you never know and they should stay away from senior citizens.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ when the sun will be setting at 7:41 pm with dusk at 8:10 pm. On that day in 2019, we had cloudy skies, rain showers and temperatures between 58 and 46 degrees. Albany hit a record high of 90 back in 1976.

Good evening! Clear and 31 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒŒ There is a north breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 11 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Beautiful day followed by a nice evening walk, although one filled with much concern as the Coronavirus crisis deepen.

Had a nice hike up Bennett Hill but it was crowded. ๐Ÿ‘ช 14 cars in the parking ๐Ÿ…ฟ area, a lot of bored families looking for something to do with all activities and events canceled. โ›” I had a nice Saint Patrick’s Day dinner with the folks ๐Ÿ€and went for my evening walk. Started out the day at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 17 degrees at 6am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around February 16th. North wind around 6 mph. The record low of 4 occurred back in 1980.

Sunrise is one minute and 44 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:45 am with sun in the east (98ยฐ). Tonight will have 12 hours and one minute of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 56 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 44 degrees at 5pm. Typical for tomorrow. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. All and all a pretty decent day. A year ago, we had rain in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 46 degrees. The record high of 82 was set in 1990. 13.4 inches of snow fell back in 1956.โ„

At one level the media hysteria is well overblown ๐Ÿ“บ but all the evidence points to the virus ๐Ÿ‘พburning through the human population, taking a great deal of the sick and elderly ๐Ÿ‘ด with it. I’ve been skeptical about the efforts to slow the rampaging virus down by shutting down most of the societal institutions but truth be told, it rather frightening. Regardless it’s kind of frightening times and things might be very different when it’s all over.

In four weeks on April 12 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (283ยฐ) at 7:34 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 32 minutes and 6 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 60 and 40 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 57 and 36 degrees. Center Square And Beyond

January 15, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 35 degrees at One Commerce Plaza. Calm wind.Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 5 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

It was a good Pine Bush Dinner and now I’m home and in bed. 🍲 Bus was right on time but I took a sleeping pill as I don’t want to be kept up by the decaf coffee โ˜• I had at the dinner. Not a terrible day, fairly busy but productive. Kind of sad ๐Ÿ˜ with the death of Chet, who was a big time black powder hunter and ronaduvue outdoorsman who wore full costume and a Pine Bush activist starting with decades ago. Those old school black powder guys are the real woodsman. Seemed perfectly fine 👌 until he missed the last dinner and was dead less than a month later. I guess if your going to die of old age it’s best to happen quickly.

The whole tire burning thing they talked about at the dinner was concerning โญ• but I’m not a scientist so I don’t know. It is a new cement plant went it comes to the on site emissions controls. But on the other side, synthetic rubber is so nasty to burn especially if you plan on burning thousands of tires a day or roughly 45% of the state’s tire production every year . 💭 Things add up even with pollution controls. Little more than a farmer starting a brush pile with a tractor tire on a big ol mid west cattle farm 🐂. I did sign the petition calling for a local law on it but I’m not really sure what a difference it makes. Just don’t know about the things government approves.💀

It’s always funny people after the Pine Bush dinner ask if I want I ride home. 🚙 But after hearing that lecture about the impacts of tire disposal I figured it best to take the bus home. 🚍 Plus I like my quiet time riding the bus. The bus is one of the few times in the day I have all to myself with no other scheduled or potential activity. Cars are such problematic things in cities although I like my big jacked up truck with the 35 inch tires that will probably have to landfilled or incinerated by the end of the year, maybe at La Farge as nobody actually knows if they are already burning 🔥 tires there under their BUD permit.

Tonight will rain and snow likely before 4am, then rain likely between 4am and 5am, then a chance of rain and snow after 5am. Increasing clouds 🌧, with a low of 35 degrees at 9pm. 21 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 8th. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Going to be too warm. Sloppy but not that bad locally. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 23 degrees. The record low of -16 occurred back in 1971.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous 🌖Moon with 67% illuminated. The moon will rise at 10:36 pm. The darkest hour is at 12:05 am, followed by dawn at 6:52 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:23 am in the east-southeast (119ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 19 seconds. Sunrise is 27 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 8:07 am with sun in the southeast (126ยฐ) at an altitude of 6ยฐ. Tonight will have 14 hours and 35 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 39 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of rain and snow showers before 3pm, then a slight chance of snow showers between 3pm and 4pm. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a high of 40 degrees at 11am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 4th. Breezy, with a northwest wind 11 to 16 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 46 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 39 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 1995. 15.1 inches of snow fell back in 1945.โ„

Got home 🏡 and something was rotting in my garbage can and it really stunk. 👃 I think it might have been the ice cream container. I don’t know but I put it outside. I dug out with my hands, โœ‹ I’m not afraid to touch garbage, and I try to reuse garbage bags as long as possible as I try to use one as long as possible – why pay for something your going to ultimately burn? 🔥 That said I do often buy firewood to use in camp, especially in the winter. โ›บ

I signed the Bernie Sanders petition 📃 today. It doesn’t matter, I’m not committed to vote โŽ for him but it helps ensures he is on the New York ballot. I’ll look and see come April which candidate to support. I think by then we will have a better chance of knowing where the candidates stand on the issues. I am still somewhat leaning towards Elizabeth Warren but in 2016 I voted for Bernie Sanders although at that point I didn’t have strong thoughts on either candidate and ultimately voted for Jill Stein in the general election.

Looking at the Empire Plaza heading down to Chestnut Street 🌰 I was thinking 💭 how beautiful and graceful the Empire Plaza is. I know people bitch about the cost of lighting the Plaza in the evening – it’s not cheap – and it means a lot of coal or gas is burned but it is graceful. I can dream a lot of better places 🌆 but Albany is my home for at least a few more years. I make too much money 💵 , I still have my family locally 👪 to just walk away at this point. I know there are better places out west, great small towns without the craziness 😜 of the city but I’m here for now, it’s my home.

Do I get too invested in Albany? No, I’m trying to structure my life without too many entanglements locally. 🔗 I am not politically involved, I’m not fighting for social justice except for the work with Save the Pine Bush. 🌲I don’t own a lot of stuff or property so I’m not tied down. I have a lot of concerns about the CCA deal the activists are fighting for that would have the town by only green sources of electricity but I’m remaining quiet, observing 🔭 but not saying anything beyond some observations on the blog. It just seems like community choice aggregation doesn’t really bring in much more green energy โšก electricity is fungible but I could be wrong. I still dream of living in a small town out west somewhere on an off grid property. Off grid all my power not from the gas generator would be renewable.

In four weeks on February 12 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (252ยฐ) at 5:22 pm,🌄 which is 35 minutes and 58 seconds later then tonight. North Adams and Hossack Range

October 19, 2019 11 AM Update

Good morning! Happy Northern Zone Regular Season ๐ŸฆŒ! Six weeks to Small Business Saturday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ. Sunny and 45 degrees at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. ๐ŸŒž There is a northwest breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

This morning was the Save the Pine Bush hike ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚ which was absolutely beautiful along Rapp Road in the historic district. After the hike I went for a walk in the preserve and shortly I’m heading up to Troy to canvas for David Bissember. Really nice day to be outside. If I wasn’t house sitting ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ™€ for the parents and I didn’t have the Pine Bush hike I’d probably have headed out of town… Maybe next weekend I’ll take a long weekend, gotta lol to see how much more vacation time I have to use before the end of the year and my work load. ๐Ÿ’ผ

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 55 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 28th. Northwest wind around 6 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 60 degrees. The record high of 79 was set in 1963. There was a dusting of snow in 1992.โ„

The sun will set at 6:07 pm with dusk around 6:36 pm, which is one minute and 35 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 51 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 10 hours and 54 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over yesterday.

Had a nice but little fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ camping out back last night. I had to keep the fire small as I was using my parents fire pit and they’re neighborhood is increasingly built up and there is more and more restrictions these days in open burning. None of the wild ass fires I have up in the wilderness where anything that burns get burnt. Maybe next weekend do some real camping. ๐Ÿ˜ด Stayed up drinking ๐Ÿป too late last night so I was a bit drousy and hung over going to the Pine Bush hike but it still was nice. ๐Ÿšถ

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 36 degrees at 4am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 27th. Calm wind. Wandering

October 14, 2019 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 43 degrees in Dormansville, NY. Calm wind.

Vacation ends and you move on with your life. ๐Ÿ˜” Wasn’t the greatest vacation ever with a lot of cloudy and rainy days and if I had a chance I’d do it differently next time but I you can’t look back. You just have to move forward. ๐Ÿ“ท Maybe I had a good time but looking back at the photos I took I see a different impression. But then again I might rethink it later on. Face it, I’m tired ๐Ÿ˜ด and not happy about going back to work or Albany more generally. But I need money, and while Appalachia and coal country is beautiful, they’re ain’t a lot money there – despite Trump digging coal, whatever that means for that dirty dying industry. ๐Ÿญ

Drove back wearing my glasses as I misplaced my contacts. ๐Ÿ‘“ I am not a big fan of wearing glasses but I also didn’t want to waste another pair of cintsc and I figured my hands were pretty dirty despite washing them regularly camping. Really didn’t want to g an eye infection. ๐Ÿ‘€

The trip back was colorful ๐Ÿ‚with really good foliage especially in the Western Catskills. If I had my way, I would have taken this week off for the road trip but I had family ๐Ÿ‘ช obligations.

Mount Pisgah County Park was nice with some color but bitterly cold. Missed the turn the first time driving up there, memory fades after two years. โ†ฉThe winds were really whipping around making it a little bit cold. ๐Ÿƒ It was a little nicer at the Marie Antoinette Overlook with fog ๐ŸŒ in the valley and some color in the hills but I di not stick around for long because I esnt to head home ๐Ÿก and get unpacked.

Still plenty of burn barrels ๐Ÿ”ฅ when I es still in Pennsylvania. Saw two households burning garbage on Columbus Day, one outside of Troy and one just south of Vestal NY. More dumpsters and trash services now though as I think people find plastic fires to be kind of noxious.

Tonight will have patchy fog. Otherwise, partly cloudy ๐ŸŽ‘, with a low of 36 degrees at 6am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 27th. Calm wind. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1978.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon ๐ŸŒ– with 95% illuminated. The moon will set at 8:37 am. The Last Quarter Moon is on Sunday night with a showers is likely then chance of showers. The Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ is in 4 weeks. The sun will rise at 7:07 am with the first light at 6:39 am, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 12 hours and 52 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 48 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have patchy fog before 10am. ๐ŸŒ Patchy frost before 9am. Otherwise, sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 59 degrees at 3pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 17th. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 61 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1897. There was a dusting of snow in 1939.โ„

Back to work tomorrow. ๐Ÿ’ผ It’s important that I make money ๐Ÿ’ต so I can pay down my bills. For a nine night, ten day road trip, my biggest expense was gasoline โ›ฝ and wear and tear on the truck, besides food and cans of beer my only real expense was $10 for last night at the rustic campground.

This next weekend is the Pine Bush hike, ๐ŸŒฒso I can’t go up to the Adirondacks for the weekend but maybe hiking somewhere on Sunday? ๐ŸšถIn two weekends might take a three day weekend to Burnt Rossman or maybe the Catskills. โ›บ Burnt Rossman will probably still have a bit of color then, could do some squirrel hunting.

In four weeks on November 11 the sun will be setting at 4:37 pm (Standard Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 38 minutes and 17 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had partly cloudy, snow showers and temperatures between 41 and 26 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 50 and 33 degrees. The record high of 70 degrees was set back in 2002.

Looking ahead, Average High is 55 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 2 weeks, Veterans Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 4 weeks, Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ is in 7 weeks, First Sunday of Advent โœ๏ธ is in 7 weeks, Earliest Sunset of the Year โŒ›๏ธ is in 8 weeks, Festivus ๐Ÿ– is in 10 weeks and Coldest Week of the Year ๐ŸŒฌ is in 3 months.

 Warm

August 10, 2019 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Clouds, a few sprinkles and a little sun and 60 degrees here on the Hunter Mountain overlook of the West Kill Valley. ๐ŸŒฆ There is a west-northwest breeze at 15 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 49 degrees. The skies will clear around 4 pm. I’m waiting for it, hoping to get better pictures and videos. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

This afternoon will have a slight chance of showers. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 60 degrees at 2pm. 21 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 15th. Maximum dew point of 49 at 2pm. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was humid. The high last year was 82 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1949.

I decided today to hike up to Hunter Mountain along the West Kill trail. ๐Ÿšถ Later on I plan to see Pratts Rocks in Prattsville and then head up to Burnt Rossman. โ›บ Tomorrow I’ll do some fishing ๐ŸŽฃ in Looking Glass Pond and hit up the farm stands in the Schoharie Valley and then swim ๐ŸŠ in Mine Kill State Park.

I fully admit if I was a responsible adult I would have gone to the Save the Pine Bush organizational meeting ๐ŸŒฒand stayed in town to save gas on my limited budget. But summer is rapidly fading away and I wanted to get out of town before its done and I’m sure rainy weekends aren’t that far off. โ˜” I don’t feel that guilty though, I’ve spent more time on that map and researching things over the past few weeks than anything else I’ve been doing.

The sun will set at 8:04 pm with dusk around 8:35 pm, which is one minute and 21 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 54 degrees. The dew point will be 47 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 15 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 4 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 23 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 47 degrees at 4am. 14 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 26th. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph. In 2018, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 64 degrees. The record low of 46 occurred back in 1941.

Driving through Greenville and stopping at the grocery store ๐Ÿฌ I had forgotten what a hick town I grew up in. Fun place although I don’t know if I’d ever want to go back now with all the gun restrictions ๐Ÿ”ซ and regulations today on open burning ๐Ÿ”ฅ – and I was surprised how expensive things were at the store. But then again in Albany I mostly shop for things on sale at Walmart. I do like the small towns and spend most of my vacation time there but its still cultural shock to go back to the community I haven’t been in regularly for going on two decades now. I’ve worked in other hick towns but the hometown is strange. The girls at the grocery store with their Irish red hair are very cute. ๐Ÿ˜ But as I like to say, their husbands own more guns than me. Fit in well with my big jacked up truck ๐Ÿšš though. That said, I can’t see moving back to the country until I can live in a place where I can have fires and burn whatever I want on my own land. ๐Ÿšœ More on that later.

I forgot how popular the Catskills are these days ๐Ÿ—ป but they sure are beautiful. I should do some more Catskill peaks this fall, maybe truck cap camping in Schoharie or just do day trips. I’ve been taking a lot of pictures but mostly on my 35mm camera ๐Ÿ“ท so it will have to wait for posting until Sunday or Monday. I’m also making a ton of videos. Fortunately, despite hitting a lot of traffic around the fire tower ๐Ÿ—ผ the ledge I’m on is relatively quiet and has nice views when you peer over the tree line. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒSun is coming out โ˜€ and I’m lazy so I’m procrastinating a bit but I should hurry up so I also have time to see Pratts Rocks.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High Falls To 79 ๏ธDegrees โ›ฑ๏ธ๏ธ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 7:43 pm with dusk at 8:12 pm. On that day in 2018, we had sunny and temperatures between 85 and 57 degrees. ๐ŸŒป We hit a record high of 95 back in 1947.
