Quite the name for a stream, probably gets it's name from the gurgling roar of the stream off of Canaan Mountain and the way Great Laurel dim down the sound to make it sound a bit like an engine.

On Monday 10/23, in the afternoon I hiked the Davis trail from Canaan Loop Road through the dense Rhododendron down to Blackwater State Forest. It's a nice trail but as is common in the highlands of West Virginia, the trails can be soggy so waterproof boots are highly recommended.

I enjoyed having the same campsite all week long when I was camping up on the Monongahela National Forest during the last week of October in 2023.
Lanesville Road is increadibly steep and narrow, but blacktop, although the worse sections of the road weren't on my dash cam, because the GPS kept crashing.
