June 22, 2017 Morning
Good morning! Today is the first day of the year when the Average High is 80. Such warm weather will last about nine weeks until the end of August. Mostly sunny and 71 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. The dew point is 57 degrees.
After a long few days at work, I took today off. I have some time to use and I want to recover and maybe pack for the weekend. I could make it into a four day weekend but I decided to come into the office tomorrow as the weather isn’t expected to be real nice – humid and cloudy. I will probably leave for Schoharie on Saturday morning as Friday’s weather doesn’t look great but Saturday will be beautiful. A week from Friday, it’s off to Moose River Plains for five days.
Got home last night around midnight which was a lot better than I expected. Had a few beers out back and went to bed. Slept in late this morning. Cooked up some eggs and are just laying back now. I got to get going but I’m just a bit fried from the first half of the week.
I need to wash the kitchen and bathroom floor this morning, and then I’m thinking about fishing and hiking at Partridge Run this afternoon. I would think about going somewhere farther like the Catskills today but I’m already planning on heading out of town for the weekend. Alternatively, I could hike Bennett Hill and then this evening get the kayak and fish Lawson Lake. That might be a better option now that I think about it. Less driving for sure and with the long evenings that gives me a lot of time to fish.
Today will be sunny, with a high of 83 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 58 at 6pm. Light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Another beautiful summer day. A year ago, we had rain, partly cloudy skies and a high of 77 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1954.
The sun will set at 8:37 pm with dusk around 9:12 pm, which is 10 seconds later than yesterday. At sunset, look for partly cloudy conditions and 78 degrees. The dew point will be 61 degrees. A little bit more humidity will creep in. There will be a south-southwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 18 minutes of daytime, an increase of 7 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 67 degrees at 5am. Eight degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 65 at 6am. South wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2016, it got down to 49 degrees with partly cloudy skies. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1940.
Looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until National Fried Chicken Day when the sun will be setting at 8:35 pm with dusk at 9:09 pm. On that day in 2016, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 90 and 64 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1886. Well before my time.
