Definitely a dark and gray start to the month of May. Probably not a good day to be in search of the toms. Fifty degrees now, with temperatures rising to 76 degrees with thunderstorms later.

Next weekend I am going to be mostly stuck in town, but I’m hoping I can get some clear coat on a few of paint chips and rust spots that are starting to pop up on my truck after six harsh New York winters. It just needs to be reasonably dry and warm for that.

I’m hoping to get out fishing on Saturday or Sunday and maybe hiking in the Catskills. Maybe the following week go up to the Adirondacks to see if the black flies are truly as bad as they say they are. I’m leaning towards Vermont for the Memorial Day Weekend. Probably do Moose River Plains for the Independence Day Weekend, which I’m hoping they give us both the Monday and Tuesday off for this year. They usually do nice stuff like that where I work.

I am basically out of new maps for the blog but I hope to make some new ones up after work. I always like to have a new or improved map everyday, which means that I have to make up at least 365 maps a year, although many are just improvements on existing maps as the DEC data I have improves. It will get done.

I was running a little bit late this morning, but I seemed to make up time. I made it to bus stop in perfect time and had time to cook up eggs. But I tell you it was hard to get up on such a dark morning. I also didn’t get to bed until a little before eleven because I decided to do my evening walk at nine. But I’m fortunately not running super late.
