February 25, 2016 Morning
Good morning! Happy Thursday. Currently 54 degrees and partly cloudy with a 6 mph south wind. A somewhat damp morning after a very wet night with heavy rain and some lightening, especially around 11 AM. The regular heavy rains help make up for the lack of snow this winter and keep things from getting too dried out.
Today will have scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Tonight the sun will set at 5:40 pm with darkness around 6:08 pm, which is 1 minutes and 15 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 11 hours and 3 minutes of daylight, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will have a chance of rain showers, possibly mixing with snow after 11pm, then gradually ending. Cloudy, with a low around 25. West wind 9 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
There are 2 months until Arbor Day when the sun will be setting at 7:49 pm (Daylight Savings Time). Spring will be around the corner before you know it. Probably will have a blizzard on that day.
As previously noted, Today is Thursday. Then Friday and the weekend. Still thinking of heading up to the Adirondacks to camp after my sister’s baby shower. Then go hiking on Sunday. The weather looks pretty nice for the weekend, a bit with somewhat less sun than the earliest models. It should be warm enough that I can run both the big buddy heater and the lantern with sufficient propane pressure. I doubt I’ll have a chance to camp again after this weekend before April but who knows, everything can change.
I’m leading the Save the Pine Bush Hike on the first day of spring in March at 1:30 PM on a Sunday. We are going up Blueberry Hill. Details will be posted on savethepinebush.org in the next few days.
