Cold and blustery day π₯Ά
Busing it to work again with the snow and ice on the bike trail plus I’m not moving real fast this morning as I was down to the library until a little before nine working on some code.
Got kind of a late start today, and I did not have time to walk laps in the Concourse. It’s fine, maybe this evening I’ll go for a walk, or just write it all off for today, eat healthy and go for a good long ride tomorrow, which now doesn’t look as cold, but still not wonderful weather, and I’m certainly not planning on heading out of town. Not sure if the rail trail will be free of snow, but I can certainly go out to Five Rivers and ride some of the rural roads around.
So much of my time lately has been spent on learning computer programming, trying to emphasize my knowledge of C++ language. R is fine, but I need more powerful tools. That means doing more in C++ or C. The thing is C++ offers so many better tools and library built in, and if you can code in C++, then C is basically just a subset of it with a lot more cruder, older technology, i.e. lots more use of passing pointers to and from functions. Really, what I’ve spent so much time lately is trying to absorb and understand as much of all facets of computer programming, as it’s not only a good skill to know but it improves my ability at work too. DuckDB is fantastic technology.
Scheduled my state inspection and tire rotation for next Wednesday. I am sure it will go fine, or if it doesn’t, whatever is broke will get fixed. I’ll check the lights to make sure all they are good, and then Big Red will get his tires rotated. π» Going to rain, and I’ll get wet probably dropping off the truck or picking it up so be it. I will probably just take the day off from work, as I have the time to use up before the end of the year. If anything pressing comes up, I can hop on the laptop and remote work, but I don’t really want to if I don’t have to.
