Cold start to the morning βοΈ
It’s to be expected, it’s December and I’m camping in an unheated truck cap. Pretty but cold.
It’s been a nice two nights 2οΈβ£ but I concede a third night would have been hard with the batteries πon the truck and the accessories without driving π somewhere to get a good solid charge on things. Really not quite as cold as I first expected. Those this morning certainly feels pretty darn cold. Eight 8οΈβ£ degrees on Big Red’s π» DIC. She started up fine but I was watching that battery gauge as a hawk both last night and this morning, as the nearest help is probably fifteen miles away. Obviously no cell service π³ that’s what like it up here. Glad there wasn’t too much snow, I left my plastic sled π· at home so it would have been a pain to drag my gear back to camp.
Taking down camp ποΈ relatively early as I want to hike back in the Simease Pond Wilderness from the Eleventh Mountain Trailhead and maybe along the Hudson River Special Management Area or maybe something like Hadley Mountain. Depends on time and my mood, Also if I came home via NY 30 I still want to explore along the Sacandaga River Campground, especially the bridge crossing the Sacandaga River. I don’t know why but that area fascinates me. ποΈ
Yesterday was a lazier day then I expected. π€ Spent the balance of the day reading π books and listening to audio books π mostly about computer π» programming but also homesteading. π I won’t lie, I smoked some pot and drifted off asleep next to the heater and woke up two hours later. Then decided it was still cold βοΈ and it was time to build a fire π₯. Maybe it was that plastic bottle πΆ I dreamed of watching burn π being high as duck π¦. Plus to it started to get a bit breezy as a snow squall pushed through and I figured not a great idea to be riding Route 8 in a white out, high as hell. I was hoping to have great thoughts π and get over my writers block π and maybe understand better the book I was reading on C Unix programming but I mostly spent the evening staring at the fire, cooking up brown rice πΎ and chicken π with corn and broccoli π₯¦. I brought the remaining frozen vegetables I had at home, figured that’s the cheapest and easiest option and this time of year they stay frozen. No cans π₯« at least for them to save for the virtuous urban recycling program β»οΈ.
