February 20, 2023 Night
Good evening! Partly clear π and 40 degrees for the evening walk πΆ here in Delmar. There is a northwest breeze at 7 mph. π. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 11 pm. βοΈ
Memories of Madison County βΊ and wishing I was still there, but alas I’m back home. If you believed last week’s forecast for tonight, heck even the forecast of this morning it would be rainy and cold tonight and tomorrow and I would have driven home in the rain even today, taking camp down in the rain. But none of that proved to be true.
It was a nice weekend π²π³π²π² hiked 30 miles in the state forest over three days though it was a fraction of the 130 mile trail system but between the two weekends spent there I feel like I’ve seen a lot of state forest. I’ll have to make a map πΊ of all the trails I explored.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy π₯, with a low of 27 degrees at 2am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 18th. North wind 3 to 7 mph. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 13 degrees. The record low of -10 occurred back in 2015. Not this year though a few weeks back we had that negative 13 day.
Went out and saw the folks πͺ and then washed all the traction sand mud off my truck got fruits and vegetables and a few other supplies including a cast iron frying pan π³, razors and also lighter fluid for the next time I camp in case the wood is wet. After a fun weekend back to eating healthy again though even on my fun weekend I included extra fruits and vegetables.
Tonight will have a New π Moon with 1% illuminated. The Worm π Moon is on Tuesday, March 7. The darkest hour is at 12:10 am, followed by dawn at 6:18 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:47 am in the east-southeast (104Β°) and last for 3 minutes Sunrise is one minute and 29 seconds earlier than yesterday. π The golden hour ends at 7:26 am with sun in the east-southeast (111Β°). Tonight will have 13 hours and 7 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will have a slight chance of rain and snow showers before 2pm, then rain showers. π§ High of 39 degrees at 5pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 28th. Light and variable wind becoming south 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 30 degrees. The record high of 73 was set in 2018. 11.0 inches of snow fell back in 1929.β
Back to work tomorrow π’ after the long weekend. There is a lot going on in the office this week despite not being a session week so it’s best to be back in the office as remote work is but a memory. Would be tough to work remote with the clouds and rain and the limited solar power for the truck at any rate. Better to save vacation time for the summer β and nicer weather.
In four weeks on March 20 the sun will be setting in the west (271Β°) at 7:08 pm (Daylight Savings Time),π which is one hour, 33 minutes and 53 seconds later then tonight. In 2021 on that day, we had sunny and temperatures between 55 and 20 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 47 and 27 degrees. The record high of 78 degrees was set back in 2012.
