January 22, 2023 Night
Good evening! Snow showers and 33 degrees in Delmar. β Calm wind. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. β
I went for my evening walk πΆ right after I got home from my parents house as I was sure it would rain this evening. But it looks like we got a dusting of snow π¨ though it didn’t really start until around 8. Still not much. Mom was pushing me to leave early after lunch due to the snow but it just kept getting pushed back in start time.
Tonight will snow. The snow could be heavy at times. π¨ Low of 31 degrees at 11pm. 16 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 30th. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible. In 2022, we had light snow in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 11 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1970.
It’s winter, it snows. π¨ Worse comes to worse I won’t be able to do my morning walk before work but that’s fine. Chances are that it won’t be that much snow and the sidewalk plows will be out early. Bus π runs regardless. It’s nice living in the city.
Tonight will have a New π Moon with 2% illuminated. The Snow β Moon is on Sunday, February 5. The darkest hour is at 12:08 am, followed by dawn at 6:49 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:19 am in the east-southeast (117Β°) and last for 3 minutes and 14 seconds. Sunrise is 43 seconds earlier than yesterday. π The golden hour ends at 8:02 am with sun in the southeast (124Β°). Tonight will have 14 hours and 19 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 59 seconds over last night.
I’ve decided I’m going to try to become a more conscious eater, π² as I think my calorie intake is too high now that I’m getting older. I already eat a lot of veggies and fruits and I don’t do fast food but I’m guilty as anyone of stuffing my face when I get home from work. I often make up too much food and rather than freezing it I stuff my face. I do walk a lot and I want to be full but not to extent it makes me sick. Improving my physical health and losing a bit of weight needs to be part of Mission Fifty.
Tomorrow will snow before 2pm, then rain and snow likely. The snow could be heavy at times. π§ High of 35 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 9th. North wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 24 degrees. The record high of 64 was set in 1906. 10.6 inches of snow fell back in 1963.β
It’s going to be so mild that I can’t image the snow will cause too many problems. π€·ββοΈ I don’t think they’ll close the office downtown π’ or that things will be that bad on the roads. I have my dress boots to wear with my suit and tie. Works well keeps my feet dry until I get into the office and put my comfortable loafers on. π
In four weeks on February 19 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (256Β°) at 5:33 pm,π which is 36 minutes and 22 seconds later then tonight. In 2021 on that day, we had snow showers, mostly cloudy and temperatures between 28 and 19 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 37 and 19 degrees. The record high of 66 degrees was set back in 1981.
