May 24, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. πŸ’Ό Working from home today and it should be a nice one. Six weeks to Hottest Time of the Year πŸ˜…. Mostly sunny and 51 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. The dew point is 44 degrees.

This morning I’m heading over to John Wolcott’s house with a few others and the fire inspector πŸ‘¨πŸΎβ€πŸš’to see what historic artifacts can be salvaged. Never did find that Fort Orange letter we were looking for and unfortunately the fire burned up the room with the archives the most. Then heading home to remote work πŸ’». Probably though want to shower 🚿 first after I get home.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 71 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 16th. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 79 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 1964.

Wednesday and Thursday I’ll be in the office 🏒 downtown and maybe Friday depending on the weather 🌨. I cut my hot spot data plan in half so internet at home is just going to be for work when I need it. Library is open for in person masked use so I can also work down there too. The desks πŸ–₯ and computers are open now, although I always just use my own laptop. πŸ”‹ Really need to address that battery life issues I’m having.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 68.2Β° from the due south horizon (-2.6Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 7:39 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (293Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (300Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:20 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 19 seconds with dusk around 8:53 pm, which is 56 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full 🌝 Moon in the southeast (137Β°) at an altitude of 22Β° from the horizon, 226,419 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:36 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 64 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 55 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 41 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 50 degrees at 4am. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 23rd. South wind 8 to 10 mph. In 2020, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 55 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1956.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. 🌦️ Saturday, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 68. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 42 at 7pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 73. Maximum dew point of 45 at 7pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 75 degrees.

The Memorial Day Weekend forecast is improving but I’m not sure if I will stay closer to home or not. 🏑 I kind of want to spend a few nights in the woods but if I wait another week and it’s warm and sunny I might do Piseco Powley Road. Soon the black flies 🐜 won’t be quite so bad.

As previously noted, next Monday is Memorial Day πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ when the sun will be setting at 8:25 pm with dusk at 8:59 pm. On that day in 2020, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 65 and 46 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 75 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 2013.
