Good morning! Wrapping up that March this week, with April 1st coming Thursday. Snow flurries, a cold and blustery 36 degrees in Delmar, NY. ❄ That wind is pushing out a stiff breeze at 31 mph the west-northwest 💨 with gusts up to 56 mph 💨💨💨. The current wind chill is 23. Temperatures will drop below freezing around 1 am. ☃️ The wind is really something this morning, but it seems like much of this month is pretty windy. That said, windy days aren’t uncommon in the spring.

Yesterday was kind of a dull day, although I did fix another bug in mapping software on the blog, adding watercolor-like maps an option, did some reading and walked out to Voorheesville on the rail trail, dodging yuppies left and right getting a few hours of walking in before the rain. The view by Bender Mellon Farms is quite nice, and now the land has been preserved, even if I have some objections to how the land conservancy manages their land — I’d rather see state ownership and used for public hunting grounds — but so be it. As I don’t plan to spend that many more years in New York, I don’t really care that much about what happens in the cesspool, as long as the rent remains relatively cheap and money keeps coming and being invested. I still have that famous NYC Dan Halloran quote in New York Post on my wall on my bedroom about the fucking money. I’ve been good and bit my tongue about that stupid Forest Preserve case in front of Court of Appeals, mainly because no longer do I care.

Today will have a slight chance of rain and snow showers before 9am. Mostly cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing 🌞, with a high of 47 degrees at 5pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 23rd. Windy, with a west wind 22 to 31 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 51 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1946. 5.6 inches of snow fell back in 1984.❄

While I will need to bundle up, I plan to go for my walk as I missed my walk last night. I have a midday Zoom meeting, then mid-day I will probably run to Wally World to buy more groceries. I don’t need lot more, but somehow since last Monday I have managed to eat 6 lb of frozen fruit. I was so hungry after getting my COVID-19 shot, and kept raiding those plastic bags of frozen fruit that day and most of the rest of weekend. Maybe the COVID-19 shot was mixed with cannabis. God bless the grass. But I guess eating oodles of frozen fruit is better than candy or other fatty things. I just like my frozen fruit so much — not because I’m a health nut or skinny, but it’s cheap and I’m always broke. After the bills are paid and the automatic investments are done, there just isn’t a lot of money left in the bank account. I should also take a shower because I feel a bit dirty, and it’s been two days.

Maybe I’ll have to actually turn the heat back on tonight. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2020, we had light drizzle in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of 7 occurred back in 1970.

Tomorrow looks nice, so I will probably work down at the library come mid-day for the balance. 💻 This way I’ll save data, probably unnecessarily, as I’ll probably end up with extra at end of month. Plus my desk chair is so uncomfortable and my back sore, compared to that wonderfully soft seat in my truck. Plus, it’s two days away from home, and I just hate spending so much time in my bedroom.

A nice, by Early April standards weekend on tap. 😎 Saturday, sunny, with a high near 49. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 55. Typical average high for the weekend is 53 degrees. I am definitely planning on going to the Adirondacks this weekend, maybe Thursday or Good Friday more likely with the weather although the fall back position is Central New York if I have to work this weekend. The Adirondacks will be more fun, but the problem is I’m not sure if I will need cell reception this weekend or enjoy the solitude of not having reception.

Looking ahead, there are 7 weeks until Pack Rat Day 🐀 when the sun will be setting at 8:13 pm with dusk at 8:45 pm. I should go through my desk drawers and find paper and junk to purge and ultimately burn. This is why I need a tiny home with a burn barrel out back. Less crap to accumulate. On that day in 2020, we had mostly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 74 and 54 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 70 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 2017.
