September 10, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Today is the 6:30 Sunrise πŸŒ‡. Definitely a dark morning with the rain pushing in. β˜” Next Thursday is Constitution Day πŸ“œ. As I like to say, the constitution is only as good as the people who enforce it. Cloudy and fog and 64 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌫 Calm wind. The dew point is 63 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 7 am.

Got out for a little walk this morning 🚢🏻 before the rain came which was heavy for a while but brief. 🌧️ Cooked up corn bread 🍞 for breakfast which was a good hardy breakfast. Going to be a dreary day today for sure. But nicer on Friday and Saturday.

Today will have a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy 🌦️, with a high of 80 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around August 23rd. Maximum dew point of 68 at 1pm. South wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 52.1Β° from the due south horizon (-18.7Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:38 pm with the sun in the west (271Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west (277Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:15 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:42 pm, which is one minute and 46 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:17 pm. At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and thunderstorms 🌩 and temperatures around 75 degrees. The dew point will be 67 degrees. There will be a west-southwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 43 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 50 seconds over yesterday.

I have to go downtown today for an in person meeting. πŸ‘₯ I haven’t been downtown in weeks. I was thinking about taking the bus 🚍 but I’m still a bit hesitant with the pandemic smoldering all around us. It’s not bad at this point but is it worth the risk? That said the bus sure is convenient although I was thinking on my morning walk 🚏it’s been half a year since the bus last left the park and ride.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 58 degrees at 6am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around August 30th. Maximum dew point of 68 at 6pm. West wind around 7 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It became sticky as the night progressed. It got down to 66 degrees. The record low of 36 occurred back in 1917.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Maximum dew point of 51 at 4pm. Sunday, showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 65 at 3pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 74 degrees.

I am thinking I will go hiking on Saturday 🚢🏻 and then Sunday will be a stay home day although I guess I’ll probably do my wash πŸ‘š then. I kind of forgot to get laundry soap so I can’t go tomorrow or at least I think I’ll wait until I have time during the weekend. I might also go out to the folks house for Sunday dinner on a Saturday 🍲 so we can have dinner in a socially distant fashion.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until October πŸŽƒ and the Harvest Moon πŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 6:36 pm with dusk at 7:04 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 78 and 60 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 66 degrees. We hit a record high of 90 back in 1927.
