March 31, 2020 Morning

Good morning! March is almost done. Tomorrow is April Fools Day and the start of trout season. I bet with all the people out of work it will be difficult to social distance at all the good trout pools. 🎣 A sign of the times. At least the days are getting longer. Next Tuesday is 7:30 PM Sunset πŸŒ‡. Clouds and 38 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ Calm wind. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 4 am. β˜ƒοΈ

Today will have a slight chance of rain and snow showers before 9am, then a slight chance of rain showers between 9am and noon. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a high of 48 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 25th. Light north wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%. I’m actually hoping for some sun later, as I want to go to the library or Five Rivers to get some podcasts and upload content that I can’t easily do with my phone. πŸ“± A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 60 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 1998. 14.6 inches of snow fell back in 1997.❄ That’s one of the later snow fall records although back in the early 1980s we had a couple big ones in April.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:00 pm with sun having an altitude of 51.8Β° from the due south horizon (-19Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:44 pm with the sun in the west (271Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west (277Β°) starting at 7:18 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:49 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter πŸŒ“ Moon in the southwest (217Β°) at an altitude of 68Β° from the horizon, 237,690 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:23 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies πŸŒƒ and temperatures around 45 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 12 hours and 42 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy πŸŒ₯, with a low of 32 degrees at 5am. Typical for tonight. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 26 degrees. The record low of 9 occurred back in 1923.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. 😎 Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 57. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 59. Typical average high for the weekend is 53 degrees.

I am going to take a wait and see approach to the weekend. β›Ί As I noted last night I don’t want to go out to Schoharie with all the mud, rough roads and car washes closed but I’ll decide later on about the Southern Adirondacks if it looks very nice. Next weekend might be even better. I would like to go fishing but not in the crowds. 🎣

Likewise I’m going to hold off calling the shop 🚘 about the alignment on the truck. It should get done to preserve the tires ⚫ and I should have done it a long time ago but so he it. I’ll decide tomorrow, I think they’re open but you know I always am trying to social distance more as people say.

As previously noted, next Tuesday is 7:30 PM Sunset πŸŒ‡ when the sun will be setting at 7:28 pm with dusk at 7:57 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 68 and 34 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 55 degrees. We hit a record high of 87 back in 2010.
