December 10, 2019 Night

Good evening! Snow flurries, damp and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. ❄ There is a northwest breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. There are 5 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️Warm weather and rain has been tough on the snow. But I’m glad it’s quickly disappearing. I did see the plow come through and lay down some salt. That said I’m not planning on going anywhere until Saturday or Sunday in my truck.

I had dinner, 🍲 which was sausage and peppers reheat from my parents house two weeks ago, and then I got on the exercise bike 🚲 and rode for about an hour. Played with the CSS stylesheet on the blog a bit, watched more of Imagine Acre Woods YouTube. His off grid homestead looks a lot like the neighborhood up the road with his hobby farm and cabin.

Tonight will have a chance of snow, mainly before 4am. Cloudy 🌨, with a low of 25 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 7th. Northwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2018, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 13 degrees. The record low of -8 occurred back in 1988.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon 🌔 with 99% illuminated. The moon will set at 6:26 am. The Cold Moon 🌕 will be tomorrow with a chance of snow. The sun will rise at 7:14 am with the first light at 6:42 am, which is 53 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 53 minutes of darkness, an increase of 49 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of snow before 9am. Partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 32 degrees at 1pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 27th. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Kind of chilly. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 31 degrees. The record high of 61 was set in 1952. 4.3 inches of snow fell back in 1970.❄

Took care of renewing my phone – 25 gigabytes of data a month or 800 mb a day is great – and now I’m paid up through December 2020. 📱 It saves a little money to buy it as a block and then I don’t have to budget it the rest of the year as it’s paid up.

At this point in my life a year is a minor time commitment, they go by so quickly but I’m getting closer to my goals each year that passes by. Not tomorrow but paycheck by paycheck. 💵 I tell you it seems like with my yearly certificate of deposit I’m constantly rolling it over but with yield curve where it is and my desire to have flexibility it makes little sense to buy for more than a year.

Everything seems to be working well with my bus pass now. 💳 If I ever run out or fare on the card again I’ll definitely just run to the Albany Library to refill it. They have the special machine to do it right there.

I am really excited about having that Monday off before New Years Eve β›Ί so I can hopefully do a road trip and camp. I really like the idea of doing another Finger Lakes trip but it depends a lot on the weather. β›„ Winter can be tricky with camping, especially with bad weather and the roads.

In four weeks on January 7 the sun will be setting at 4:37 pm,🌄 which is 15 minutes and 56 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny skies, snow showers and temperatures between 29 and 14 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 31 and 15 degrees. The record high of 56 degrees was set back in 1915.

Looking ahead, New Years Eve 🎆 is in 3 weeks, Wolf Moon 🌕 is a month away, Coldest Week of the Year 🌬 is in 5 weeks, Martin Luther King Day 🖤 is in 6 weeks, Clean Your Computer Day 🧹 is in 2 months, Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day 🥛 is in 9 weeks, National Drink Wine Day 🍷 is in 10 weeks, St. Patrick’s Day 🍀 is in 14 weeks, 7:30 PM Sunset 🌇 is in 17 weeks, Good Friday ✝️ is in 4 months, Cinco de Mayo 🤠 is in 21 weeks and Mothers Day 👩‍ is in 5 months.
