September 29, 2019 Morning
Good morning! Happy Sunday. Two weeks to Average High is 60 π. In the Albany area that might occur sooner as it looks like the northeast will dip above the jet stream next week. Strangely enough I’ll be in West Virginia where its expected to be relatively warm and sunny assuming that the jet stream remains far enough north. Partly sunny and 65 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 8 mph. π. The dew point is 55 degrees.
Yesterday I hiked in the Albany Pine Bush πΆ out the purple trail from Madison Avenue Extension to Fusco Park then the yellow trail loop. A nice hike but a bit humid by evening with the front coming through. β Clouded u later on. I’ll post more photos π· later today. Also scanned on some documents π at the library for Save the Pine Bush.
Last night was kind of a hot and sticky one. I was tempted to get out my fan but I don’t like how much energy it uses, says the boy in the squeaky big jacked up truck that’s getting fixed tomorrow. π¨ I fell asleep pretty early mainly because I was up late the previous night watching the YouTube I had downloaded at the library.
Today will be mostly sunny π, with a high of 69 degrees at 4pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 24th. Maximum dew point of 55 at 8am. North wind 8 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 68 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1921.
The sun will set at 6:41 pm with dusk around 7:09 pm, which is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. π At sunset, look for mostly clear skies π and temperatures around 65 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 50 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.
Today I’m thinking about hiking Louise Kier WMA aka Blodgett Hill outside of South Bethlehem πΆ one of the few areas around in Albany County outside of the Albany Pine Bush that has a native pitch pine habitat. But first I want to run to the car wash π and Walmart. πͺ I need to buy some motor oil β½ to top off the truck before vacation. Then I’ll probably head over to my parents house relatively early as I’m not going to stay overnight tonight.
Tonight will be mostly clear π, with a low of 42 degrees at 5am. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 8th. North wind 3 to 6 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 43 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1991.
Looking forward to my West Virginia trip next week. By now in a week I’ll be well on my way to West Virginia, stopping at several parks along the way, especially Hyner View I think. π Might be really pretty for sure, depending on how much color I see on the way down there. π
I have my hunting license and back tag set up for 2019. π« So I can head out to the field whenever now. π« Ironically though I’m heading down to West Virginia. I wonder what a weekly out of state license costs for small game down there. That said the days are short and there is much to see down there.
I ordered additional blue jeans π online from Walmart so I have enough ones for vacation and at work. I also bought a second amendment and Live Free or die shirt π to wear at camp. Big spender which is bad because I just paid out a shit ton for rent and my car insurance and next I’ll have the repair bill for Big Red. π
As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High is 60 π when the sun will be setting at 6:17 pm with dusk at 6:45 pm. On that day in 2018, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 55 and 41 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 61 degrees. We hit a record high of 81 back in 1930.
