July 2, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Two weeks to Last Sunset After 8:30 PM πŸŒ†. A few sprinkles of rain and 72 degrees as I head downtown on the CDTA 18. β˜”I thought about bringing my umbrella but I decided against that. There is a southwest breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 61 degrees. The skies will clear around 11 am.

I picked up my dry cleaning so hopefully that will be good for another six months as I don’t wear my dry cleaning much off session. PERC is nasty stuff but it does a good job for dry cleaning. πŸ‘”And I have no complaints about my dry cleaning except that it’s expensive and a pain to drive down there. I know they have a dry cleaner at the Empire Plaza but I’ve never used them. I lost one of the pads on my earphones 🎧 but I have an additional ones at home, but it’s still annoying.

Today will have a slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Partly sunny 🌦, with a high of 85 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 65 at 4pm. West wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was humid. The high last year was 97 degrees. The record high of 98 was set in 1966.

The sun will set at 8:36 pm with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 10 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 79 degrees. The dew point will be 65 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, an increase of 43 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 64 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 65 at 6pm. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It became very sticky as the night progressed. It got down to 74 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1978.

Tonight I have to go shopping and get packed for the weekend up at Moose River Plains. Seems like it’s coming fast, with my plans to leave after work tomorrow. πŸ• It would be nice to leave before 5 PM but I don’t know how likely that is. While I’m hesitant to bring the kayak, as I don’t know how much I’ll use it,Β  once I get set up at camp the second day, I can take it off so I can take advantage of the solar power. I hope to be set up by 10 PM tomorrow for the first night, and then break camp early and head to the site I will camp at for the rest of weekend.

On this day in 1962, The first Wal-Mart store opens for business in Rogers, Arkansas. πŸͺ I bet Arkansas is a fun state to live in, very inexpensive Two years later, President Johnson would sign the Civil Rights Act of 1964 into law on the same day. πŸ‘Š Probably unrelated events.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 89. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 70 at 11am. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Maximum dew point of 63 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Last Sunset After 8:30 PM πŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:30 pm with dusk at 9:03 pm. On that day in 2018, we had hot, humid, mostly sunny, patches of fog and temperatures between 96 and 69 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 83 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1900.
