May 22, 2019 Night

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 61 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a south breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 41 degrees. The skies will clear around 10 pm. I’ve been watching the humidity meter this evening in my bedroom and it’s been creeping up. Only a few hours ago dew points where in the 30s.

I got most of my gear packed for camping this weekend. β›Ί The great debate between the Greens and the Adirondacks continue but the only difference really is if I bring worms and they my fishing 🎣 pole. If I do go to Vermont I want to camp somewhere more remote where I can listen to music without bothering the neighbors. Vermont I would probably hike down to Lye Brook Falls and maybe Stratton Mountain. Adirondacks I’d probably hike back to Simease Ponds although thats a pretty long hike. Also considering going up to Thirteenth Lake and hiking back to Hour Pond. Lots of options. Built a new hose to make it easier to fill my water tanks with less spillage from the bathroom sink. That’s good because I’ve been doing it in the kitchen since the landlord removed the tub faucet and that’s been a pain.

Tonight will be scattered showers, mainly after 3am. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 53 degrees at 5am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 2nd. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 56 degrees. The record low of 36 occurred back in 1967.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon πŸŒ– with 73% illuminated with the moon rising at 12:00 am. The moon will set at 9:26 am. The Last Quarter Moon is on Saturday night. The Strawberry Moon 🌝 is on Sunday, June 16th. The sun will rise at 5:26 am with the first light at 4:53 am, which is 48 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ„ Tonight will have 9 hours and 7 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 45 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 3pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Mostly cloudy 🌦, with a high of 75 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 3rd. Maximum dew point of 58 at 3pm. South wind 9 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 81 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1964.

Tomorrow I will drop off two of my jackets to get dry cleanedπŸ‘”and then I will leave my truck at the Park and Ride, picking up some groceries for camp before heading to the Save the Pine Bush meeting🎍over the Crossgates apartment complex.

Weekend continues to look decent but not perfect. πŸ˜• Saturday, a slight chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 72. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Maximum dew point of 58 at 5pm. I have tarps if necessary. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 78. Maximum dew point of 59 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 72 degrees.

In four weeks on June 19 the sun will be setting at 8:36 pm,πŸŒ„ which is 18 minutes and 17 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had hot and humid conditions, mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 83 and 64 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 79 and 58 degrees. The record high of 94 degrees was set back in 1995.

I made some edits to the code for my VMS display in my bedroom. πŸ“Ÿ It now pulls from both the clock chip and humidity sensor for calculating the indoor temperature for greater accuracy and uses a decimal value. It also resets the high and low temperature at midnight each day. It’s fun to monitor the indoor temperature, dewpoint and humidity, especially now with the windows open. ⬛My next step is to hook up the outside temperature sensor which mostly just requires me to figure out how to sneak the wires outside and position the sensor for an accurate estimate, especially in the winter when the windows are closed.⬜
