Albany Water Reservior Basins

Albany Water Reservior Basins

Where the City of Albany gets it's water from -- the Alcove and Basic Reservoirs.

The Alcove Reservoir is not only a larger reservoir and basin, it also has much higher water quality due to land cover. The Basic Reservoir is connected to the Alcove Reservoir via pipeline and Silver Creek but used only occasionally due to lower water quality and quantity.

When what you believe is a criminal offense here but is normal over there 🚨👮

In more and more of America, states are creating new laws and cracking down on behaviors and actions that are perfectly legal, although maybe somewhat discouraged in other states. While this is certainly not a new thing – witness the difference of policies in slavery across America – in some ways it is a new thing in the sense that we are more connected as a nation then ever before due to the internet and mass-motoring.

The thing about it is that some policies that make a lot of sense in one part of the country might not make sense in another part of a country. Rural areas and particularly rural states are much more suitable for certain types of behavior that would otherwise be noxious – such as open burning, fireworks and firearms. Nobody cares if you burn debris in wide open country or do a bunch of shooting. Ain’t harming no one.

The key is to be aware of your local laws and consider moving when your current state no longer suits your interest. That said, it’s easier to say that do that. Finding a new job, building new connections and a new life isn’t as easy as going down a drive down the interstate, especially as states tend to be large and red states and blue states often cluster around each other. But maybe that’s the best choice for many people.
