The Beautiful Springtime Sunday Isn’t Expected to Last ๐ŸŒธ

I guess enjoy it while you still can. It will be a nice morning for driving to the Glenmont to get groceries and supplies, maybe fill the propane tank in preparation of traveling next weekend should the weather be decent. I adjusted my bike derailleur and aired up the tires but who knows if I’ll get a chance to ride before the rain returns. I should also replace at least one of the bad windshield wipers too.

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Partly sunny and 44 degrees in Delmar. ๐ŸŒค๏ธ There is a west breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

Out to Walmart this morningย  ๐Ÿ›’ to by food and the plastic packaging it comes in for fire starters ๐Ÿ”ฅ then over to Tractor Supplyย  ๐Ÿฎ to get propane so I’m ready to get out camping. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ As rain is coming later on today, I should also look at getting a windshield wiper blade for my truck.ย  โ›ฝ๏ธ Then gas things up as I want to keep my truck full because with the Middle East going to all shit and summer coming, prices are only going to go up. Hello, inflation my old friend, how are you doing? Unfortunately I am concerned the Middle East situation causing inflation is going to mean elderly Joe Biden is going to get his clocked cleaned this November by the soon-to-be-convicted felon, Donald John Trump. But maybe it’s good, as government really needs to get knocked down a peg or two.

Today will have a chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 55 degrees at 4pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 11th. Maximum dew point of 46 at 6pm. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ West wind 6 to 9 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 89 degrees. The record high of 83 was set in 1968. 1.4 inches of snow fell back in 1950.โ„

While this morning is real nice, ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ‘‰๏ธ๐ŸŒง๏ธ it’s going to turn to rain much too early this afternoon it seems. Getting shopping though before the rain will be nice, and I might try to squeeze in a bike ride later on now that I’ve adjusted the derailleur on my bike and aired up the tires. ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ It should be a good for riding in at least the first half of the work week. Heading out to the parents house this evening, ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ It’s good to visit the family, as you never know how many times you’ll get another chance to do it. If the rain holds off, I’d like a chance to get some exercise — be it a bike ride or an evening walkย  ๐Ÿšถ but based on the latest forecast I’m not that hopeful.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:56 pm with sun having an altitude of 57ยฐ from the due south horizon (-13.8ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:59 pm with the sun in the west (278ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (284ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:37 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 59 seconds with dusk around 8:05 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the west-southwest (239ยฐ) at an altitude of 66ยฐ from the horizon, 243,304 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:41 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 54 degrees. The dew point will be 47 degrees. There will be a southwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 25 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over yesterday.

Yesterday ended up staying home ๐Ÿ ๏ธspending a lot of the day reading and thinking ๐Ÿ’ญ or maybe better said dreaming. I finished up a book on permaculture ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ and one on beef farming ๐Ÿ‚ and was doing another book on Java programming ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ and ended up digging into writing C code and working with CSV and Excel files ๐Ÿค“, as I want to improve my C programming skills as a lot of the code we work with at work is written in C.

Tonight will have showers and thunderstorms before 10pm, then a chance of showers between 10pm and 11pm. ๐ŸŒง Low of 47 degrees at 4am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 5th. Northwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2023, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1940.

Been watching as the landlord works on the unit next door. ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Been doing quite the gutting of the next door apartment, but I realize it’s been a least a decade since that unit was overhauled and I think it needed a lot of work as does my unit. ๐Ÿงน I don’t feel nearly as guilty for all the wear and tear in my apartment, things wear out and building materials — especially cheap ones like my apartment is made up — have a fairly limited lifespan. The refigerator in my apartment is more then 30 years old, and I am sure the carpets and floor are probably at least that old if not older. The mold issues aren’t my problem, or the water that is everywhere due to issues with the foundation not being properly insulated and the building not properly vented. ๐Ÿš๏ธ It’s a cheap, dumpy apartment but despite all my complaints I kind of love it and hope to stay here until I find a permanent home.

Looking ahead to May, which isn’t that far away, there are 3 weeks until Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค  when the sun will be setting at 8:01 pm with dusk at 8:31 pm. On that day in 2023, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 64 and 40 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 68 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1944.

Tuesday, Tuesday. ๐ŸŒ„

Rise and grind on this second day of the week. Started my morning with Johnny cakes with spinach and broccoli and old bay seasoning, I guess to celebrate the collapse of the Baltimore bridge, or I wasn’t feeling like pancakes despite having some cherries and bananas rolled in oats as a side.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Mostly sunny and 24 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. โ˜€๏ธA cold start to the morning. There are 3 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ Melting quickly though, by tomorrow’s rain it will be gone at least locally. ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at around 8 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

I guess I’ll be riding in this morning. ๐Ÿšฒ I’m going to try to do the rail trail, it’s better than Corning’s Hill and the rough as duck ๐Ÿฆ† South Pearl Street. Depending on how much snow is left on the bike path I’ll try to ride home too, but last night I ended up catching the express bus ๐Ÿš from the old train station downtown. โš™ Adjusted the gears on my bike, went for an evening walk and did some reading ๐Ÿ“– last night. Got another e- audio book from the Libby app to listen to on my ride to work. ๐Ÿ”Š Waiting for the next, part of Power Broker to be available, in the meantime I’m listening to Ralph Naders new book on CEOs who did the right thing.

Today will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 46 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 19th. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 56 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 2021. 6.1 inches of snow fell back in 1899.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:02 pm with sun having an altitude of 49.8ยฐ from the due south horizon (-21ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:38 pm with the sun in the west (268ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (274ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:15 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:43 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:17 pm. At sunset, look for potential rain showers ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 42 degrees. There will be a southeast breeze at 6 mph. Tomorrow will have 12 hours and 33 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over today.

Tonight will have a slight chance of sprinkles before 8pm, then a chance of showers after 10pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 37 degrees at 2am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 15th. Southeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. In 2023, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 27 degrees. The record low of 78 occurred back in 1998.

It looks like now the heat can be off until October or November โ™จ๏ธ though maybe not quite warm enough for the windows open. I’m also not ready to put away the electric blanket but I’m using it less and less these days.

Easter Weekend still looks outstanding. ๐Ÿฐ Good Friday, mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Easter, mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Typical average high for the weekend is 51 degrees. A little bit below normal. But I’m looking forward to getting out of town. ๐ŸŒฒ

There are 2 weeks until 7:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ with dusk at 7:59 pm. On that day in 2023, we had sunny and temperatures between 55 and 29 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 56 degrees. We hit a record high of 77 back in 1991.

Snow Melt Coming Down the Mountain

Snow showers around for the first sort of day for spring. ๐ŸŒจ

Spring starts at 11:50 pm in the evening not that it feels much like spring today. I’m sure it will be bitterly cold until it’s like 80 degrees out. Always happens that way.

Good morning! Snow flurries and 30 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ„ There is a northwest breeze at 13 mph. ๐Ÿƒ with gusts up to 23 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. Not a constant wind but I hear it picking up at times. Things will start to thaw out at around 9 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Going to be cold ride in this morning, but I still enjoy the ride. ๐Ÿšฒ It was cold riding home last night as I was doing the Zoom meeting for Save the Pine Bush ๐ŸŒฒdown in the Noonan Preserve though it started to get dark and I had to head home. ๐ŸŒ† Dinner last night was red kidney beans I cooked and mashed into essentially refried beans minus the frying in fat, on top of onion Johnny cakes. Not a half bad dinner. I was tired and cold to bed ๐Ÿ› shortly there after.

Today will have a slight chance of snow showers before 8am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 42 degrees at 4pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 8th. Northwest wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 33 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 2012. 9.6 inches of snow fell back in 1971.โ„

Yesterday I got my Early Voting by Mail Ballot ๐Ÿ—ณ and I promptly filled it out and will toss in a post office box ๐Ÿ“ฎon my way riding to work. Decided to vote for Dean Phillipson for President, not that it’s going to change anything but I figured why not. I will probably vote Green or Libertarian come November, I’m not super thrilled with either of the leading elderly candidates. I think Biden has done a lot of good things, but I can’t argue that in some ways Trump has personally been better for me with the tax cuts.

I’ve been having problems with root rot with some of my plants, ๐Ÿฅ€ so I brought them home and repotted them with fresh soil. I am tough with plants. Doesn’t help though my office is bone try, due to being over a printing plant  ๐Ÿญ๏ธ where they have to keep things dry to keep paper from sticking together.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:04 pm with sun having an altitude of 47.1° from the due south horizon (-23.8° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:30 pm with the sun in the west (264°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (271°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:07 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 53 seconds with dusk around 7:35 pm, which is one minute and 10 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the east-southeast (119°) at an altitude of 61° from the horizon, 247,292 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:08 pm. At sunset, look for snow flurries ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 39 degrees. There will be a southwest breeze at 6 mph. Less windy by evening. Tomorrow will have 12 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over today.

I haven’t had a chance to talk to my neighbor about the garbage pile ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ next to his unit as he got home from work after I was in bed. If see him out and about I’ll try to find out what’s going on. He doesn’t look like he’s packing up to move out and the transfer station was open Saturday and today so it’s kind of werid. I figure if anything the rats will be attracted to his unit. ๐Ÿ€ The whole situation is kind of awkward and I don’t want to be the tattle tail but also not be dealing with problems.

Tonight will have a chance of snow showers, mainly after 9pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 31 degrees at 6am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 30th. South wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2023, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of 2 occurred back in 1967.

Another kind of shit March weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, rain and snow likely before 2pm, then a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 38. Typical average high for the weekend is 48 degrees. I’m hoping for nicer weather come the following weekend to head up north, although even with a forecast like that I’ll make it owrk.

Looking ahead, there are 3 weeks until 7:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ with dusk at 7:59 pm. On that day in 2023, we had sunny and temperatures between 55 and 29 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 56 degrees. That should feel very spring like. ๐ŸŒท We hit a record high of 77 back in 1991.

Barrett Pond-Engel Road Trail Intersection

Final Friday of 2023 โ˜บ

The year is coming to a close. I decided to work from home today so I can run to the store midday to get the supplies and food I need for the New Years Eve trip and probably because we’ll get released early and frankly because I don’t expect a busy day today at work today. If I have downtime, might as well work from home. But first a quick ride out to Voorheesville to get some exercise before work starts.

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Clouds and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” Calm wind. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow night around 10 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ But first quite mild.

I was pleasantly surprised โ˜บ that there is no showers around this morning ๐Ÿšฒ and I can do a morning bike ride before work for some exercise and working at home. Some things to do today but should be a generally slow day. At lunch time I want to get propane ๐Ÿฎ so my tank is full for camping ๐Ÿ• along with toothpaste and other things on my list at Walmart. ๐Ÿ“ƒ

Today will have a chance of showers. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 47 degrees at 1pm. 12 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 22nd. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 48 degrees. The record high of 71 was set in 1984. 6.0 inches of snow fell back in 1915.โ„

I managed to set off the smoke alarm twice this morning while cooking. ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿš’ I I’m sure my neighbor loves me for that fortunately he works the early shift. ๐Ÿณ Shredded onions and spinach with eggs ๐Ÿฅš made into a cake with mushrooms and peppers. Pretty good, fiber rich breakfast. I’ve also been enjoying that carrot ๐Ÿฅ• bread I made – the vital wheat gluten really helps improve the consistency ๐Ÿž and between the shredded carrots and the baking soda it baked to a nice deep color, almost like pumpernickel bread moist with the consistency almost of cake. And this time it wasn’t so tough on my stomach. ๐Ÿคฐ๐Ÿฝ

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:58 am with sun having an altitude of 24.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-46.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 13.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:45 pm with the sun in the southwest (231ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (239ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:30 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 25 seconds with dusk around 5:01 pm, which is 44 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:38 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 46 degrees. There will be a west-southwest breeze at 6 mph. Tomorrow will have 9 hours and 8 minutes of daytime, an increase of 36 seconds over today.

Tonight will have a chance of showers. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 38 degrees at 6am. 19 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 27th. West wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 43 degrees. The record low of -21 occurred back in 1933.

Tomorrow will have a chance of rain showers before 4pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 43 degrees at 12pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 2nd. West wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 57 degrees. The record high of 53 was set in 1984. 10.9 inches of snow fell back in 2000.โ„

I think I’ll probably head up to camp โ›บ mid-morning tomorrow for the New Years Holiday. ๐ŸŽŠ Not planning anything too fancy just two nights in the wilderness with a fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ and some sparklers ๐ŸŽ‡ and try to stay up until midnight on NYE and toast in 2024. Maybe fry up some walnuts and cranberries. Listen to podcasts ๐Ÿ“ป and enjoy the mild weather and probably mud. I’m going to ride some trails and roads ๐Ÿšฒ though probably a lot will be muddy.

Looking ahead to Sunday, New Years Eve, partly sunny, โ˜€ with a high near 38. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph. Typical average high for the weekend is 35 degrees.

Christmas Eve Sunset

A better Thursday closing out 2023 โ˜บ

The days go by so quickly it seems, though in the case of yesterday maybe not quick enough. Things just got off on the wrong start with the smoke alarm yesterday, compared to today with warm fresh carrot bread and banana oatmeal pancakes.

Good morning! From here on out the sun will be setting after 4:30 PM ๐ŸŒ† . Slowly but surely the days are getting longer out, step by step. Rain and 44 degrees at the Elm Ave Park and Ride. โ˜” There is a north breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Saturday around 11 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

After slamming my way through the morning yesterday, ๐Ÿ’ฅ it turned out to be a pretty decent day and things went fairly smoothly. I caught the express bus ๐Ÿš home and between the lunch time and an evening walk ๐Ÿšถ got my steps in for the day. Made up a bunch of whole wheat bread ๐Ÿž๐Ÿฅ– – one loaf with rye and the other with carrots ๐Ÿฅ• and was in bed by nine ๐Ÿ› and got a good night’s sleep.

Today will have a chance of showers. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 47 degrees at 2pm. 12 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 22nd. North wind 3 to 5 mph. Another mild day ahead. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 61 was set in 1982. 7.0 inches of snow fell back in 1967.โ„

Another dreary day on tap ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ but we could be slip sliding our way through it but it’s too warm and I’m not paying for the heat. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ It’s not a bad day for walking laps around the Plaza before work and I’ll turn on that brass lamp that I like a little too much when I get to my office ๐Ÿข. I wonder if my new office will have a brass table lamp. After all that is what is truly important in the world these days. I just like shinny things that don’t harbor viruses and bacteria. ๐Ÿ›‹๏ธ

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:57 am with sun having an altitude of 24.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-46.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 13.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:44 pm with the sun in the southwest (231ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (239ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:30 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 25 seconds with dusk around 5:01 pm, which is 43 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:37 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 47 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 7 minutes of daytime, an increase of 27 seconds over yesterday.

I have to admit it just was difficult to shift gears from Madison County ๐Ÿฎ back to work. It was just so much fun spending Christmas at the horse camp. ๐ŸŽ… Yes, it was damp and cold at times, with that tangy taste of manure on the air ๐Ÿ’ฉ but it seemed so far away from Albany. The mornings were so dark that I slept in pretty late. I was fortunate that I was able to get away for six days.

Tonight will have a chance of showers. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 41 degrees at 5am. 22 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 17th. Light northwest wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 22 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1933.

I haven’t decided if I will work from home tomorrow, ๐Ÿ’ป I have those end of the month reports to run and it would be easier to do from the office though I have bandwidth on my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ to do it if I wanted. I would kind of like to get propane at lunch time ๐Ÿฎ and food and supplies for camping ๐Ÿ• this weekend. ๐Ÿชฅ In particular, I need toothpaste, I forgot to get that last time I was shopping on Tuesday ๐Ÿ›’ along with all important tumeric.

Mild and less wet weather to close out the 2023.๐ŸŒค๏ธ Saturday, a chance of showers, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. West wind 7 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. New Years Eve, partly sunny, with a high near 39. New Years Day 2024 looking at 40 degrees with more sun as the day progresses. Typical average high for the weekend is 35 degrees.

I think I’ll head up to camp โ›บ early on Saturday morning as Friday looks kind of wet. Two more nights is plenty to close out the year. ๐ŸŽ† Use up some of those sparklers and toast away the year as there is much to look forward to both good and bad in the 2024. And make sure to start dating things correctly. ๐Ÿ—“

Adirondacks

Like so many people, the day after Christmas is one for heading home ๐ŸŽ„โžก ๐Ÿš˜ โžก ๐Ÿก

After five nights of camping, three nights here at Charles Baker State Forest I’m taking down camp and finishing up packing my truck. I want to get home fairly early so I can do my wash at the laundromat and possibly wash my truck though that gives me pause as come Friday I might be heading back out to the wilderness for a NYE trip though the start of 2024 on Monday morning.

Good morning! Mostly cloudy and 38 degrees at the Moscow Hill Camping Area. โ˜ There is a south breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Friday around 9 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Last night was pleasant and not too cold under the full moon ๐ŸŒ• as I sat by the campfire until around 9:30 pm. It didn’t get below freezing until well into the night ๐ŸŒƒ. It followed a nice but rather muddy day ๐Ÿšฒ riding truck trails on my mountain bike at Charles Baker. The roads were muddy with all the melting ice on them.

Today will have a chance of rain, mainly after 4pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 46 degrees at 2pm. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 24th. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 30 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1895. 13.9 inches of snow fell back in 1969.โ„

Laundromat and unpacking first when I get home ๐Ÿ‘š and then I’ll also shower ๐Ÿšฟ as I’m quite dirty and then go to the grocery store ๐Ÿ›’. Pretty low on groceries at this point. ๐Ÿ Fortunately it’s just a short work week. Undecided about going to the car wash ๐Ÿ›ป, I should get the salt off my truck but if I’m planning on heading out of town on Friday or Saturday for NYE washing my truck at this point would be silly. ๐Ÿงผ

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:03 pm with sun having an altitude of 23.8° from the due south horizon (-46.8° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 13.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:48 pm with the sun in the southwest (230°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (238°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:34 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 26 seconds with dusk around 5:05 pm, which is 38 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the east-northeast (60°) at an altitude of 9° from the horizon, 243,682 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:42 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 44 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 5 minutes of daytime, an increase of 17 seconds over yesterday.

Ad revenue has really dried up lately on the blog ๐Ÿ’ธ but that’s to be expected this time of year with less traffic. I guess I could do more aggressive ads but I feel like it’s enough advertising as it is for my taste. Traffic will come back come next summer when people are looking for maps and stories about camping. That $164 check I got last Friday was kind of nice, but with the drop of revenue this time of year I doubt I’ll get another payment until the third week of March, and that will probably only be slightly more then that check. But I do expect looking at historical blog traffic things should pick up.
